so i just bought an 08 legacy a month ago, and i had to go in for the first oil change a few days ago. When i getting there in the morning they asked if i wanted the sticker to say for another change at 3000 miles or at 3750? I thought, while reading the manual that i didnt need an oil change until every 7500 miles after the first at 3 then at 7500 and then 15000 and so on. Which was my understanding,

If it has to be every 3000 then so be it, but i drive esentially all highway, 750 miles a week, and i wouldnt see the problem with going to the 7500 mark if thats what is suggested with the car, or is the dealership just trying to make me come in every 3000 miles and spend 50 bucks a month there to get the oil changed?

Its just a 2.5i Limited, diamond grey metallic, nothing special but a lot better than the honda accord i was driving.

well i think since the engine is broke in, just go with AMSOIL. change once a year or every 25,000miles witch ever comes first. than you dont have to worry about it. also depends on the honda accord you were driving. dont get me wrong i like subies, but the early 90's accord i like.

I change my oil every 3000 miles. Sure, I probably don't need to. But it's not very expensive and is probably better for your engine.

Regular changes is all it needs. Even if it's broken in, you should still have at least a couple of changes per year under your belt.

The dealer that we bought our Leggy from gave us lifetime free oil changes, as long as we bring it in every 3000 miles... score for me!

i wouldnt go to 7500miles because of dust. if you live in a dust area you need to change your oil more offen. you dont want the oil filter bypass to just cycle it w/o it being filtered. as oil gets dirt it becomes acidic and you dont want it to eat away at your seals. but if it not that dust/dirt i say you can go 5000miles before it needs to be changed.

Use a quality synthetic oil and do it every 7500.
