'00 Outback - New to Subaru's From Connecticut

Hello Everyone! I just picked up my Subaru yesterday!

I sold my pick up a couple weeks ago:

I miss my truck, but I'm very happy with my new wheels. I'm a dirtbiker that rides enduros and the Outback looked like the perfect replacement for commuting and pulling a light trailer for the bike and Home Depot runs.

I was originally looking for a Wagon with a 5spd, but came across this '00 wagon with only 63k on the clock. The price was good too, so I jumped on the deal. Around the corner from work, there was a 2.5RS for sale and found the 2.5rs site where I originally got quite a bit of help and someone referenced your site to visit. I'm happy to find another top notch site and even better yet, has direction for me and the new ride!

I'll post a picture of the Outback soon. My first things to do is to add a tow hitch and tint the side back windows. We have a 4 week old and I don't want her getting too much sun!

I know the Outback is heavier and all, but this thing feels like a go-cart to me right now. As I get used to it, I'm sure I'll want to tweak the suspension.

I've been enjoying reading the DIY articles here and hope I can add some of your experiences to my wheels as I do little stuff to it.

Here's a pic of the new to me Subaru. I've been reading the DYI's on rerouting the intake and the grill modification. I don't see me using the roof rack, so I'm planning on taking off the inbetween bars for less air resistance.

For next year I hope to update the rear sway bar and replace the exhaust after the cat. I need to do some research on the exhaust because I don't want it too noisy and I'm not into the Maxwell house exhaust either. Some rumble is okay, I just don't want to be loud or have a drone at certain rpm's.

You could pick up an SPT axleback to give you some more rumble...

But honestly the "drone" or in-cabin resonance is dictated more by the mid-pipe (and whether it has a resonator installed).
