is it just a motor? or wiring/ecu , tmic, exhaust (downpipe), and misc parts.. if its everthing need for a swap i would jump on it if in good condition( no damage and lowish miles). just something to think about a wrx motor swap package cost around $3800 for the parts

umm i would say no. its only going be a short or long-short block(long block minus cams) no intake, no turbo, no exhaust manifold, no electrical, ect...
is it a longblock or a shortblock?

No wiring? I'd pass might be a pain to track and match later on.

brand new 0 miles, all acc included, intake, turbos. basiclly the only thing not getting is the wiring. also its not the STI motor that comes in the STI's. he told me that those are the street versions. the ones he gets are not. do you think this is wrong?

yes prodrive make a semi-closed decks? for STI. idk harnesses for sti's are somewhat hard to find and the matching ecu.. so it a complete motor w/o harness? if so $2500 isnt a bad price. might be a pita project though finding all the missing peices.

The harness is going to be the toughest part to get.

If he can get the motor, he must be able to get the harness, especially if he builds race cars.

that price for a sti motor is very reasonable especially if it has 0miles on it.

check if that motor is kosher before you buy it...

its straight from STI. the only thing i would need is the harness and ecs(crossmember i think) for it do go in the car. little things like exhaust arent a biggy to me. the motor it turn key ready.

If it's straight from STI then it should be the same as the ones in an STi. If it's a custom build, I'd want to know who builds them, and what they put in. Then I'd want to know what kind of warranty you have on it.

Sounds like a lot of BS to me.

STI doesnt make there engines. there subarus tuning division. basicly prodrive or another company builds they engine for them. so if he saying it from STI is direct form subaru its a OE engine open deck block, if it J or Euro spec its semi-closed.

i dunno.

My thoughts exactly. This sounds a little shady.
