I have a couple of problems with a 2001 Legacy GT (2.5L SOHC non-turbo automatic).

After cold starts, I can feel a vibration coming from the engine area, almost like a mild shuddering. It gets worse if the steering wheel is turned heavily at low speeds. Once the engine has warmed, the vibration/shudder disappear. Perhaps a problem with the power steering pump or its drive? Also, whenever the car is accelerated hard, the engine will start to spool up and I can hear a high pitched yet faint screaching sound coming from the front of the car. Once the hardest part of the acceleration is over, the screach is gone. Is an accessory drive belt slipping, or maybe it's an accessory bearing?

Maybe the two problems are related. If someone has diagnosed similar problems, please let me know.

The car has 120,000km and has been regularly serviced at a local dealer.

Cheers.

belt might be to tight. its hard on the ps pump when not moving. you can change your ps pump fluid. i did it and it alot easier to move.

I've heard a lot of phase 2 2.5s have an intake whistle at full throttle. Might be what you are hearing?

As far as I know the screeching sound is an exhaust leak, I have the same problem in my car and doing research alot of guys said it went away when they replaced their exhaust. But I think it is a fairly common problem in third gens.
