56k beware...

well, the OBW needed new brakes.
so i found a set of RotorPro's X-drilled and slotted rotors on ebay, picked them up for like $130
then got a set of satisfied pads from Consumer Auto Parts for $2.85 for both front and rear sets... lol
i had a starter core from when i put a starter in my brothers maxima that i never returned. so the difference was $2.85

so heres some pics

tada. looks pretty good. and braking feel is much improved. 75% pedal pressure is much better than 100% before.
let me know what you think.

yeah. never done pads/rotors on a subie before. they make the hard to get to bolts in the rear caliper bracket easy to get to. something an american car maker wouldn't have done. they would have just invented a SST so you have to go to a dealer....

but, IIRC, the whole job took about 2 hours. which wasnt bad for me... with no air tools.

just kind of sad that i can pull the engine outta my supra quicker than that...

Not quite following the logic behind the drilled slotted rotors + generic pads.

You can pull the supra engine in under 2 hours??

yeah. the engine/trans come out as one and with another person helping who's done it a couple times before, it's easily been done in 90minutes...
not by me, but with my brother helping, who helped last time, i think we can get it done in, i'll say under 3 hours. which shouldnt be bad. you just have to do things while other things are happening... probably doesnt make much sense, but drain the engine oil. go in the car and remove the center console and shift surround, unbolt the shifter and remove.
should be drained by now, so you now drain the transmission. remove the glovebox and pull the ecu. feed the engine harness into the engine bay and stuff a rag into the shifter hole in the trans. put the drain plug back in the trans, and remove driveshaft. unbolt transmission mount and engine mount, make sure the radiator and coolant hoses are disconnected and pull. it's easy.

but thats waaaaaay off topic.

the pads i used are not generic... they're not axxis, ebc, porterfield, or the like... but they're good for a daily driven vehicle and i believe will provide a decent increase in braking performance with the rotors.

plus the rotors were cheap... there's really no logic to be had... i used these instead of blanks because i found a deal... sorry, but i'm not going all out on the braking system on my parents car.
