Awesome DIY man! Are they always that blue color however?.. or could you get them in a different color?.. or is that just because your lights are that color?

it's going under the knife soon, single turbo conversion, few guys have done this here now, on a JDM BG5B-BG5C-BD5B-BD5C the mod it quite simple as these model are quite identical to the STI V3 -V4
few guys have documented the journey, the do's and don'ts made it quite simple: one mans mission.. ReubenH its a good read.

HOLY... Well hmm... Looks like I won't be switching to Morette's on my BG afterall... Definitely getting a set of JDM projectors, though I might opt for a deeper blue myself... trying to slowly but surely turn my Scooby into a tuner mag-quality car eventually, starting with the interior.

That looks sexy!!! How long did the project take you? I was thinking of doing the angel eyes myself. I just recently blacked out all the chrome pieces of the housing, turned out great, but for sure this will be my next project. Great write up by the way.

Hey guys, I am planning this project next week. Can anyone tell me if the angel eye can withstand the heat of an oven? I don't have a heat gun handy so I will be using the oven @ 250F to open up the headlight housing.
itd be nice to see the "part one" of this, lol

This is a dumb question but the linked site for the rings doesn't seem to have any place to take an order... Where else are the rings available?

Well you know since originally seeing this DIY I've found a easier, and potentially cheaper way of making Angel Eyes that actually looks more like the BMW originals.
Basically just go to a hardware store and find a pair of clear round plastic windowblind rods, use a dremel tool to cut perpendicular little slits down one side (or all the way around. either way just cut like, 1-2mm into the rod), being sure to make straight, uniform cuts. Proceed to use a heatgun or hair dryer to wrap the rods around a round cylinder in the size that you want the rings to be (I would leave a little extra rod to bend back or to the side, you'll see why in a minute). Using a power drill, create an LED-sized cavity in one or both ends of the rod (I suggest both). In said cavity, place your preferred color of LED (If you choose two different colored LED's, I'm fairly certain you'll get a cool mix effect where the two colors meet in the middle and blend smoothly). Cap each end with the non-conducive material of your choice and wire accordingly. For maximum brightness and light direction, mask the back of the rods with something reflective, like aluminum foil; and if you can get a hold of them, use a collimator on each LED (like, say, out of an LED flashlight that uses collimators ) to help direct the light into the tube. Be sure to wire the rings up to either a switch or your parking/city lights with resistors for each LED. Remember, to find what Ohm rating of resistor to use, just use the following formula: Ohms = (Battery V - LED V rating) / LED Amp rating, where V = voltage. For you wiring n00bs (for lack of better term), remember to put the resistor between the power source and the LED. Now, for all of the parts used (assuming you all ready have a dremel, or other cutting tool), you should have spent roughly $15, and you wouldn't have had to wait for your special overpriced CCFL rings to get delivered in the mail. On top of that, if you did it right, it will look incredible! Everybody wins! [Legal stuff: Most of the information used to create this DIY can be found at http://www.geocities.com/jvxdriver/eagle_eyes.htm, and as such should be credited to the creator of the website. Note: the author suggests reflective tape; if you want a true BMW-style look, I suggest something with more of a mirror finish, as reflective tape is generally slightly colored, generally in white.]
~Scott
For those of you interested in how this works, the rods act as fiber optic tubes which carry the light, and the cuts in the rods create refractions, which change the direction of said light. This is also how BMW makes their "Angel Eyes", though the manufacturing in theirs is much superior, being that their rods are full (cast I believe) glass rings with much smaller/more intricate cuts.

How retarded would it be to have them without projectors in regular housing? I think a little

Hot diggity damn! People, we have post death resuscitation. I repeat, we have achieved zombie-thread!
Yup, look at me, not reading and such. Thanks to TGX4776 for showing me the error of my ways!
Yeah, it does look pretty retarded when put on stock reflector headlights. I'm pretty sure I saw a Civic pull that crap once. I nearly threw up, if I recall.

I think he was asking how it would look if he did it to his stock lights instead of JDM's, but I could be wrong.

Upon re-reading his post, I'm inclined to agree (as made fairly obvious by my editing my previous post). I'm glad you caught that before some real stupid s@#$ hit the fan.

Yeah, I know. That's why I replied as such (after editing my original response, that is). Don't worry about what I might have said, I had misunderstood what you said, was corrected, and changed my response to reflect what I would have said, had I read your post correctly in the first place xD. Complicated, I know :P

Well okay? Back to the point, i think it's maybe only cool with projectors.
uhhh of course its only cool in projectors....
