Upgrading BD Brakes

Time to change my brakes and thought might as well upgrade it to something with a bigger size. though im not sure if they fit from newer legacy/wrx to my BD with a 07 2.5i 16" stockers.

I'm newb so this is just to clarify b4 i go spend my $ for a used brake parts. :smile:
And im not sure wich is the 4 pot that wont clear our 16". im assuming the one with 12.3 vented front disc is the 4 pot.

None of the 4 pots will clear a 16x6.5" wheel. Only the 16x7 RS wheels will clear 4 pots (and even then I think they only clear the USDM ones... but I might be wrong on that).

Your best upgrade:
Fronts:
New 2 pot calipers
New street pads
New rotors

Rears:
BE/BH or H6 brake upgrade - 11.3" rotors w/ single or 2pot caliper.
the 05 GT has rear vented discs.
Get a nice aggressive pad in the rear to improve bite and brake bias.

It's not hard to get it right, but it's very easy to get it wrong.

I'm bringing this back from the dead fawk it...

So I took the plunge and ordered 04 legacy gt front brake stuff for my BD.

-11.3" Brembo blanks (Part # 25646)
-EBC Yellowstuff Pads (Part # DP41661R) - I hear these are the best performing pads for the street. Supposedly they work very well at both cold and high temps. The high temp rating is much higher than the Hawk HPS' (by like 500 degrees!), and others that have swapped their HPS' for yellowstuff liked these much better on the street. More cold bite, less fade when pushed on mtn roads.

I still need to get a set of front calipers, I think I'm gonna get a set of Fencos from Advance auto, just because they're in stock, and they come with the necessary caliper bracket, too (and ALL of the hardware.. pins, shims, everything.)

I'm still up in the air about what stainless lines to get for my BD. Seriously what lines will bolt up with no issues in the rear if I have 02-04 wrx struts back there? I don't wanna ziptie them on there, that's ghetto, especially when they prob make a part number that fits. Stock single pot disc brakes in rear, 04 legacy gt stuff up front.

You're gonna want to pick 00-04 Legacy 16" wheels

The lines that will bolt up will be lines specific to your BD. The strut simply has a mounting tab that you can snip (which you probably already did when you swapped out), bend aside, pull the old line out, put the new line in, bend the tab back and put the retaining clip back on.

I'm not sure how you missed this when you swapped from BD struts to GD struts?

I actually still have stock struts, I'm just planning for when I put in GD struts.

Subaru 4-pots use the same 294mm (11.5") rotor as the WRX 2-pot (but don't fit under your wheels).
STi 4-pot brembos use a 326mm rotor
The 05+ Legacy GT 2-pot uses a 316mm rotor

2-pots do not stick out as far and usually make wheel fitment easier. For example the wrx 4-pots don't fit under a lot of wrx wheels and sti brembos don't fit under the 17" LGT wheels.

Difference is the raised lettering on jdm, vs a sticker, and because of that the JDM 4-pots won't clear 16" FXT wheels, but the USDM 4-pots do... Hadn't heard of the 4-pots fitting any 16" (USDM) WRX rims, are you including 17" in that statement, now that I'm curious?

As he mentioned, you need the turbo legacy (91-94) calipers and brackets
Otherwise, the BD's have the same size (non ventilated) rotors as 02-05 WRx.

When I read the post you were quoting, I read it as the USDM GC RS rims were standard issue on JDM STis of that era. That would make sense, since the USDM GC RS's didn't need a 7" wide wheel for their brakes.

I think he was responding to this statement:

I just picked up some remanned 04 l-gt calipers... looks like i'll be putting them in and doing a writeup on it soon.
