has anyone swapped clocksprings on their 98 leggies to a newer style one? I have an 06 sti wheel I'd like to put on my car but dont feel comfortable splicing airbag wires.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Doug

Not sure on the compatibility, but swapping clocksprings to get a different connector at the top would just mean you'd be swapping the airbag connection under the dash instead, so it wouldn't solve your problem :|
I'm with you, I love the wheel in my '05; I just ditched the airbag and ran an aftermarket Momo in my 97.

Pretty sure the airbag connecter is the same. It's not hard to check, two star screws on the wheel cover is all it takes to look at the connector. I think you'll find you wont need to swap anything at all.

Typically the SRS plugs are different from 03 onwards... the USDM 02/03 WRX is a perfect fit for the pre-05 Legacies.
if you do a search around, some people have lucked out with the later Impreza wheels, some not so much.

^^^ Good to know.
OP: Tell you what, why don't you post a picture of the SRS clip on that '06 wheel and between the two of us (Huffer and myself) we will be able to tell you if it will work on your Legacy. I know what the Impreza and Legacy clips look like from my own swaps so if the '06 one looks identical I'll let you know.
