Annoying squeak coming from left side... what is it?

I noticed this annoying squeaking sound which speeds up as the car is moving faster. I thought it might be because I had a torn half shaft boot, but I just had the whole half shaft replaced and the squeak is still there.

Its not terribly loud, but when im driving with the window open next to a wall or barrier, then its obvious... an intermittent squeaking coming from one of the wheels (the squeaking gets faster as I go faster)... what could this be?

I'd guess something to do with the brakes. Does it go away or change when you hit the brakes?

I have yet to confirm if it is or not, I have a garage appointment next week Tuesday.

yeah it sounds similar to what is described there... im certain that its a rotational part and i dont think it changes while braking, so wheel bearing makes sense. im changing my front rotors and pads soon so after that ill see if it goes away.

edit: I checked today and it seems the squeaking stops as soon as i apply the brakes... so i guess it is brake related. just ordered a pair of slotted brembos and greenstuff pads for the front :grin:

you might have the same thing as me...there is an annoying squeak comming from my back right tire

i asked my dealership what it was and he said that its the gears in the transmission and that sound carries down the drive shaft to the back of the car

he also said that after i think 2003 they decided to put cardboard tubes inside the driveshaft to muffle the sound

mine gets higher pitched the faster i go and sometimes it sounds like it vibrates off like if you put a straw in a glass and have that infront of a speaker kind of thing

i think it is something with the wheel that my dealership doesnt want to do anything about...idk his explaination for it doesnt make sense to me

they might of. other car makers have used cardboard in the driveshaft

i only noticed it AFTER he put in the 2.2 and took out my 2.5.....so could that be it too?
