ok just making sure but I think it will fit. 2004 BBS STI rims on a legacy BE is fine right?

Yes. They're 5x100 and within the "correct" offset limits.

and just to be sure what are rims spec I can go for? ofset 48 to 53? width 7.5 to 8?

Offset 45-55...width depends on your ride height and tire width.

Yep - the Rotas I now have on the Leg were the winter rims off my '04 STi and they were the same dimensions as the stock BBS's.

would also fit? 17in 52 offset. some inputs which are best looking, BBS or OZ?

I think I'm gonna get the oz p1, local seller and new condition. now which tire spec do i need to look for (size). i can use the same tires for the sti 04 and the p1? they are both 17in.

17x7 +48, yes 215 or 225 45/17.

About 18" wheels now. are they tricky to fit BEs? suspension will be stock at first but will be upgraded in a not to far future. I'm thinking may be Enkei RPM2 Bortex 18" 5x100 - 18"x7.5" with 50mm offset

Still going to depend on the tire width. Rim itself is fine. Lots of room under the BE fenders.
17" BBS are much lighter than the 17" OZ P1s.
I had 18" P1s and they were about 22lbs, whereas the 17" BBS are under 16lbs. The 17" OZ should be 18-19lbs.
Go BBS.
