Wow great build so far. I love it. You should really consider getting Perfect Power or another EM to open up that ECU and really make gains with all the nice engine mods. Thats just my thought.

silver BK's are the best

xXGTBspecXx

i thought my car was a BG5 and where can i find a decent EM for my car?i want something vehicle specific..like a cobb accessport

Yours is a BK (but the difference is the body) nice engine build, explain some more. And WHY did you go with drilled rotors????

xXGTBspecXx
07-01-2008, 10:23 PM
drilled rotors.... simple better then stock and heat disapates faster.. it was a cheap upgrade that drastically improved my stopping power

major misconception actually, a solid rotor with a quality pad is the best option

been trying to find a bender for two years now.....i should just give up and get one from harbor freight(200 bucks or so)hydraulic man-power, not mandrel(1000bucks---i wish!)

i believe that there is a possible market here. maybe i'll work on this also this winter.

hmmmm..........LiquidRacing LR-1 headers by summer? if i could get my ducks in a row, i'll do it. i have EVERYTHING else, including a 220 arc/MiG(i prefer the 120v though) 220's a LOT of power for 10-12 guage steel, imo.

since i dissolved EQ8 Fabricating right at Thanksgiving, i figure i NEED to do something else. if nothing else, the tax savings alone are worth selling one exhaust system per year.

wow, i think i am SERIOUS about this now!

I'll post some pics if i do this. obviously, i would need pics for my fabrication portfolio.

giving me good thoughts. anyone else think there might be a market? seeing as how there are only like two companys that make headers right now.

if u make a cheap weld kit rollcage id be interested. but theres a harbor frieght down the street and a metal supply next to it. i think i may be able to make my own cage

i've never done a roll cage before. can't be any harder than an intake or exhaust, just more time consuming. if you got a tube shop down the street i'd hit 'em up and see what's up. what are you thinking of using? i would almost go galvanized rigid conduit(heavy though).

Agreed man, I've got a set of goldies that are my race setup on my RS and I searched long and hard and saved up some money to get them. Yours look good red/black time attack, my friend has had his that way for a few years now.

i didnt know what time attack wheels looked like until i painted my konig blatant WR blue and painted the spokes black. some one made fun of me for copying time attacks.and i told them off. so i like to consider painting the lip a diff color then the spokes my flavor to painting rims. view my myspace page to see the wheels im talking about.the link is on the mugshot and rides thread page 6

at first so did i but he explained to me how springs worked and i was talked into it.. the guy has had over 40 cars and hes a pro drifter.. he had cut springs on his S14 drift car and it handled amazing. he said if you do it right you just made lowering springs... and i paid him $50 to measure it all out and he calculated stuff and then he made a cut on each spring and it just sat down perfect.. hes friggin skilled. took it out for a ride and it doesnt have the rice bounce either.. its just a softish stiffish ride. i like it but im still getting coilovers.

no he buys them builds them and sells them. i trust what he says. dudes got experience. hes got coilovers on his r32 skyline but before he got them he had cut springs and the fitment is just sex.

but you gotta realize that your stock springs have a different spring rate and your not changing that so it's not a lowering spring.... it's a lowered spring (still stock though) which means you run a much higher risk of badly bottoming out your struts and your car!!!!!

xXGTBspecXx
02-02-2009, 08:51 PM
oh yea i know that. bottoming out  shoulda said that in the first place.. i was gettin all defensive.. il be using the car to get back and forth to work where all the roads are level. so until i have the money for tein's i really am not worried about the strut bottoming out.

and heres the deal.. you do change the spring rate when you cut springs. when you have lets say 3500lbs on a givin spring its takes that weight and spreads it over the area of the spring.. so. if you take some of that area away you increase its stiffness and spring rate. cool eh? trust me i did some research on what he told me before i let him do it. so its all right.. if i do bottom out my strut it will be cause by me getting airborn or sumthin.. so i should be fine.

you gotta admit my car looks sooo damn sexy with that stance.. omg.

not only bottom out but ive seen cut spring become unseeted on big bumps and pierce/damage tires and suspension parts

It would be pretty hard to get all the weight of your car on one spring.. .

The main issue with doing this is controlling the heat that is put into the spring while doing this, and most people end up cutting off too much and make the spring either too bouncy or hard as a rock. If you calculate the spring rate you want and find the amount to cut from the stock one to achieve that you are still going to have serious fitment issues. All this while you could have just bought some lowering springs for like 200 bucks...
Also,Your bumpstops are most likely shot as mine were at 60k and one pothole you don't see could be the end of that strut.

I'm not at all trying to hate on your ride, I just hate to see people doing this to their car cause it can be a very hard on the rest of the chassis/suspension and is dangerous and potentially fatal in extreme cases of failure, not to say that that can't happen a bunch of other ways in an automobile but why make an opportunity for something else to go worse?

xXGTBspecXx
02-02-2009, 09:23 PM
oh i know where your coming from and he knew what he was doing. he checked all my bushings and made me get a new bumpstop from wilkens subaru thankyou discount and he went and did his business. but all in all. i dont recomend that anyone ever do this. i had someone with a shit ton of expeirence do this and it was done correctly. the spring is secured to the top and bottom of the strut and wont move around when you jack the car up... but these will probably be on the car for no more then 2 months and im buying tein flex coilovers and the EDFC controllers. and with this setup he said i can fit a 18x9.5 rim with a 235 tire stretched on it and have no rubbing problems.

02-09-2009, 01:59 AM
I wouldn't bother with EDFC, for two reasons. One, you'll use it 5 times, then never touch it again. I have it in the STi on the Mono Flex's (because they're inverted and the adjustment knobs are on the bottoms) and once you get the car adjusted, you won't change the ideal damping for a given spring.

Second, it takes only a few seconds to adjsut damping on a wagon, since you don't have to yank rear seats.

Third, and most important, is that they won't fit in the front. There's not enough space between the strut top and the hood to add the motor, without cutting a hole in the hood. Legacy strut towers are higher in the engine bay than WRX towers are (which is why when you go to coils you can't avoid lowering the car significantly; you have to keep the lower strut body threaded sufficiently into the knuckle, and the upright height is taller. This is also why anyone on WRX suspension drops noticeably even before adding lowering springs, even though stock WRX's have acres of wheelgap.

You'll also notice that many front strut braces from Imprezas and even those specific to Legacies will run very, very close to the hood; I have a Legacy MRT brace and it still rubs the hood on the strut top plates.

You could try running a strut top spacer to push the tophat down and address both issues (I still haven't gotten around to it), DanCech and I were discussing that a few years ago.

Enough other people have expressed their concern with cutting springs that I won't get into it, and just urge you to be careful.

Since he's going for that Drift look he could raise the hood. Longer bolts and washers,or has someone fab something. Like the S13 and FC drivers do and I've seen a DC integra with it too

That could help fit the EDFC's under and add additional cooling

well that makes sense. at least you have more than the shitty stock seatbelt to keep yourself going through the windshield.

interesting that your car is 11/12 years old and still has 0 miles :smt017 broken or did you roll it back?

Ok. that makes sense, cause now you can still have recordings for actual mileage and mileage on the new engine. Just be careful if you ever sell it cause you have to make sure you not that the vehicle does not display actual mileage or else you can end up with a lawsuit/jail time

no airbag light...and u buy the hub adapter for a wrx yes.. everything you see is aftermarket.. hub quick release and steering wheel.

installation was easy. the hard part is taking your wheel off. then you slide everything else on.. but you have to make sure that when u put it all on the steering wheel is straight up and down with your wheels too...

NOTE this combo of hub and quick release bring the steering wheel pretty close to big peoples chest. not recommended without proper harness straps..

I've been trying to figure your headlights out and I like what you did to the highbeam. I personally run yellow H2 bulbs. Now from this picture I think i figured you out. You painted the outside of the headlight instead of the inside reflector right?

xXGTBspecXx

incorrect, i have yellow rockblocker covering the highbeam and i also have yellow H3 bulb holders from a old acura vigor. the reflector itself is still chrome..

theyre actually Nology's Hotwires series and are vehicle specific.. i was lucky enough to grab these for $15 bucks shipped off of ebay.when they retail for $179.99 ... my car is just about done.. i have to finish the cage ,get some new wheels and get my wilwood big brake kit and get my turbo kit installed.. and the wagon will be done. nothing else will be done. maybe find a 5mt with ppg gears.. but thats it. wagon is complete.

So we are all allowed to express our opinion and since you were shooting down the advice of some of the people above me, here's my advice:

Take it down a notch captain. Talk all you want but all we see are BIG PLANS which mean nothing. You are becoming like that make-out obsessed high schooler with an Outback who was gonna do like 8 different swaps.

it rained and the bug deflector was set on it... man do i have to take pics after i wipe the car off everytime... see you guys at the track then with your show quality paint.. il be overtaking some porsches while your wiping down your leggy's in the parkin lot.
The bug deflector looks terrible, just because its free doesn't mean you should put it on your car. Not only is it a ridiculous mod just because it looks terrible but that deflector is now directing air (and bugs) OVER your hood scoop rather than in it. Get a grill, it doesn't look mean or cool without it, it looks like something is missing, perhaps because something is missing. Have fun when road debris smashes through your exposed radiator. You know big bugs can bend fins right? You will not get anywhere near the track or get close to overtaking Porsches when you are stretching a 205 over some wide rims. Have fun with curb rash, leave that setup to the Euro kids.

and im not the best driver out there but better then most.. i drive best in the rain.. i like a challenge. as soon as my car is boosted il be in the 300 hp range at the crank. that can take out some lower class porshes such as the boxster s and the older carrera. they arent as fast as need for speed makes them out to be.
Perhaps it is you who has been playing too much need for speed thinking that you will drop in this magic turbo kit and make 300 to the crank. Still haven't seen how you plan on running that engine without EMS. Coming from someone who is running a hybrid setup using an off the shelf ECU, you will never reach 300hp without a standalone or a wiring harness merge incorporating a WRX or STI ECU + some sort of EMS. Additionally, save for a very few cases, even a "lower class" Porsche will outhandle a Legacy wagon.

All that said, I like your wagon a lot. The new stance looks awesome. Just throwing out some food for thought.

lol This comment always makes me laugh. Maybe I'm alone on this one (now don't get me wrong, I like fast cars and all) but I'll take a nicer looking car over a "porche eater" any day. I have a motorcycle if I want to go fast... take fast corners you say? maybe not myself but I have a friend that can take most people on here in the twisties on his bike.

We all have our opinions on what is call and what not. keeping doing you and what makes you happy. Don't get your panties in a up roar if someone disagrees with you. Some may be serious, some are just busting your balls. Would I like to have your car? NOPE, would I like to drive it when its finished hell yea :smt023

Alright since this thread now shows high schoolers fighting over cock sizes I will have to lay my down on the table to stop it. So if you need to fight take it to PM's. I don't want to have to lock a members ride thread... owns it or not.

So which brings me to my first question. Now theres no reason to keep the cat in the bag... what is this "secret weapon" of yours that we should be waiting for, or waited since... whatever.

And if that wreck comment is towards me then... lol

No attacks, just thought the car didn't have the turbo or the cage or anything else included.

And while they're both animated, Initial D is anime, not a cartoon.

Besides I'm a bit more partial to Wangan Midnight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wangan_midnight) anyway

mannnnn, all this flaming has got to stop.

Trust me, I <3 immature flaming and drama filled threads, but that's when I'm bored and reading ImportTuner.com forums or something for kicks, not here.

Settle down...and trade me your smoked projectors for my smoked projectors before you give it to that dude. kthx =D

Unfortunately the car is already gone. No chance for us to get any of the parts from the car. I'm sad about that especially the rain visors. I have no AC so it sucks when its hot and rainy. Get back to me about my PM, I want a set.
