This is probably my happy introduction into the wonderful world of the ej25... So, This is my new BH as of 5 days ago!

Kind of ironic actually, I'm sitting in my car at a stoplight and a pale yellow WRX pulls up behind me with a rather attractive girl driving it. I look back to the light waiting for it to turn and she rams into me! She was in a hurry and thought the light had turned green... needless to say it had not and I had not started to move... The WRX was a 4EAT so she got a pretty good launch at me to top it off. None the less, It's no more than bumper damage and her insurance gets to deal with that anyway!

I get to suck up the bills for why my car won't stop intermittently overheating! The coolant isn't flowing continuously. After replacing the sender and deciding the gauge was on, I've narrowed it down to the thermostat being stuck or the impeller free wheeling on the waterpump... Did I mention I JUST bought this car :mad: /Rant

Don't be surprised that stuff is broken. When buying a used car the general rule is there is up to $500 of stuff to fix.

Used cars are exciting! :-? I had an issue with an Oxygen sensor that plagued me for a year. It wasn't until it completely failed that it was abundantly clear what the issue was.

Even though I had replaced the coil, spark plug wires, plugs, and an assortment of other parts. In the end, the part was ~$80, but the dealership labor was $200. (The car had to be running the next day for my honeymoon).

All told, I'm pretty happy with mine now. So I expect once your "teething" period is done, things will settle out nicely. :grin:

Thermostat is an "easy" fix. Sometimes burping the coolant system after fixing the thermostat is a pain in the butt. Waterpump means timing belt as well. Timing belt should cost at or under $300 plus the price of the pump. Get your crank and cam seals replaced too. I don't know if they are as much of a problem on the newer cars, but it seems the crank seal loves to crack/leak.

Other than that looks like you found one in great shape!

At least it's not a big eng bearing :P In the 6 months i've had my GTB, i've spent more on it, way more on it than the initial price to buy it.

Nice looking vehicle you got there! I have an '00 BH that I just bought and having problems too. Hope its an easy fix and something simple like a thermostat.

K, I suck at the interweb lately but I'm back for an update (because I'm bored at home without a car.......) So the answer was I have INTERNALLY blown head gaskets and warped heads! "Completely gone through" my ass. I was taken for a ride, again. I fail at purchasing Subaru's apparently, for those that missed it, my previous red BK was purchased with "130,000" on the clock, which turned out to be 202,000 at the last recording obtained by Carfax...

Oh and State Farm accepted 100% liability for the bumper damage, as they should have. My estimate came to $1300 for all new OE parts at the shop of my choice, which I haven't yet gotten the chance to pitch to State Farm as my car HAPPENS to be in the shop and my heads happen to be with a machinist...

I wish I could've pulled a Max and used this as an excuse to do something fun motor wise, but I currently have no money and this is my only car... so going by his non running example... that'd be a bad idea! :lol:
