errr....

Got the new issue the other day. Finally has an update of the Royal Purple BD they've been working on.

I wish I was impressed. The build quality seems great, the parts are hot. But I feel like they missed some of the 'essence' of the BD. Mainly what Im' talkign about is the awful mess of stickers all over the thing.

I understand it's a SEMA car, but that doesn't/shouldn't automatically mean it gets an exterior work over like that. The mass majority of Legacy owners, whether they are represented on SL-i, NAsioc, LEgGT, or LegacyCentral wouldn't dream, or dare, of dressign up a Legacy like that.

I don't know, maybe it's a stupid gripe. But the only reason I ever subscribed to Subiesport was to follow that build. And, as a Leg owner, I wanted dyno numbers, how it ran on a track, etc etc. I wanted Subiesport to show how capable it was of being a performer not just a looker.

I'm just disappointed how they handled our beloved BD....

Now I will go QQ

I totally agree, more on how it performs is a must.

Theres another thread on here about this car. I believe the guy that did all the work is a member here from subiesport.

Is that a turbo'd stock EJ25? No STi swap?

I see what you guy's mean about being a bit "all show, no go". I mean, it doesn't look bad IMO.. but..

Don't worry though, we get a fair share of that kind of thing in NZ too, legacy's aren't sleepers here... It's usally a 3"catback, FMIC with miles and miles of IC piping, boost gauge, boost tap, poorly made bodykit, and about 10 tonnes of subs and amps in the boot :smt018

Don't get me wrong...>I bet this thing has tons of go. It's a Crawford S2 block with an awesome Perrin turbo setup. This thing probably has great get up and go.

My issue is they don't test it at all. I want to see some dyno numbers and track impressions. I want some quality, classy exterior work. I want I want I want!!!

Lol...

My other issue is with all the dumb graphics. Legacies aren't a flashy ride, their owners aren't gonna do shit like that.

If they did for this BD like they are doing with the new LGT I'd be stoked.

I like the headlights & grill. I also like a few of the interior pieces & audio equipment.... otherwise...

Although the exterior isn't eye candy to some of us, most of us can only dream to do a Legacy build like that. But when you do build something like this, numbers is the icing on the cake.

It looks really boring. It really does. It's missing a touch of class, or humor.

Like 2.5GT's band-aid, or sybir's low stance, or Legacy's mad-max look.

sony xplod? wow.. can we say CRAP. I mean come on.. if your going to put some audio stickers all over your car.. sony is not wha you want to be putting down the sounds with. I think sony's sound quality / build is absolute garbage.

Dont like the way the car looks either.. dont like the blacked out tail lights, and WOW.. is that a 'JDM STYLE' angle i see on that tail pipe

just my .02 cents of hate.

That this is as stated by AJM FUGLY!

I hate the fact that they smoked out the tails and headlights

Too many stickers

This car exterior wise puts a shame to the BD frame or any at that

Too much flash and a fart can? Come on, we all know better than to rock on of those

Vote +1 for engine removal and pushed off a cliff and watch it burn ^_^

I 100% agree with you Digi. They must have been almost done budgeting when they decided on car audio equipment

Well its because it really IS a waste.. if your going to make it look like rice, why not just buy a honda, slap a b18c5 in it, beat the SHIT out of the suby.. and call it a day?

oh.. and lets not forget to add stickers and the 'jdm angle' exhaust.

Its just sad that they would put such a nice motor in such a poorly designed exterior.

I don't mind a little bling, but it just seems to me the advertisements on the car was really to fund the whole project.

I think the rear trunk setup is kind of cool.

With all the banners on the car, I guess I would have rather them gutted the thing, put in a roll cage and actually enter the car in some road racing events to see how it would do. I wouldn't mind it so much because race cars have large numbers and banner ads on them. It would be more fitting I guess.

If it was a street car setup, then I agree with most, and you could still go with the whole bling attitude, just a cleaner body setup. Heck you could go wild with the graphics and paint, just remove the banner ads.

The only thing i hate is all the stickers, but seeing someone actually build on the "Step Child" makes me happy..The build to me is impressive, don't judge a book by its covers.

Been done, how about a built turbo SVX motor w/ STi 6 speed? That would be interesting.

I don't thinks it's that bad at all.

A little much on the stickers and not that thrilled with the choice of sponsors, but they do have bills to pay.

I also like the wingless-ness and the blacked out bits, and the offset in the wheels make a difference to me too.

I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

If they were going to build a "step child" then a BE would have been the correct choice.

Overall if you photoshop out all the stickers its a very well done car. After reading the article I think the writer and builder may have a new found respect for the Legacy Modder.

True, but give the BE a few more years, and you'll see a lot more JDM parts for it, just as it took a while for the BD/BK/BG stuff to pour in.

Either way, I think he was referring to the Legacy as a model being the stepchild.

I was reffering to the legacy, i saw a thread referring to it a while back, ever since then that's what i call it... one of these days that will change though. I havent gotten the chance to read the whole article though.. i just skimmed it.

You can read the tragedy of what happened to this car on NASIOC:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1070856 (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1070856)

The weekend before the show, editor Travis Geny undertook the task of painting the car himself, in the garage. This did not go so well. Since this was his first time ever using a paint gun, with 40deg ambient temps, the paint turned out... BADLY. To remedy this, HUGE stickers were slapped down the side of the car.
Eric and Jay of Fleet Sign and Graphics, spent a sleepless night the night before the car was to be shipped installing stickers on the ill-fated Legacy. While the stickers covered much of the bad paint, there was still a lot left uncovered.
