POSSIBLE NEW PAINT???????
My dad had the idea to do this...I kinda like it...it's grown on my a tiny bit....a lot of my friends hate the idea but I'm still in the air about it...If I were to do this paint I'd paint my wheels the same color as the bottom (titanium pearl)
(obviously photoshopped)

A quick photoshop I did for Airgne
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/06/2toneairgnecopy-1.jpg

little photoshop of my car for a cooler look
(yes the HID is shopped on there..I have HID's in my trunk waiting to be installed but I'm doing the projector mod first)

In a few pics my grille is off...it's in the shop right now..we're making a custom one.

i think with the STI wing the black top would look good. also it would be very original. im still thinking about the black bottom half on my car. also since i out my car into a ditch on saturday night.

well when i came down the next day i aske why i had no license plate and my cousin told me i went into a ditch(didnt remember it). lets just say i learned a good lesson on what not to do. the only damage is next to the right foglight. mostly paint chips. im getting that outback front anyways so im not to mad at myself.

1) I LOVE THOSE WHEELS! They simply look great with that body style, and I really think that BE's need a 17" wheel.

2) Two tone has been done and be really effective. There is a WRX wagon in town that is silver with a gun metal top. The wheels however are matched to the roof, not to the lower part of the car, and I would suggest the same in your case as well. It connects the car together. Also, I would end the two tone at the hood. The hood drops down to the headlights, why extend the paint further than that?

3) Ever thought about doing the yellow foglights by baking the fog lights, then painting the lense yellow with the surrounding chrome bits black? Would look good with the headlights, and when the surrounding is black, the yellow reflector has a really cool dark gold effect. Here's a link to show what I mean:

1) Thank you!!! I agree 100% I'm glad you like them =]
2) I've been contemplating like crazy with this paint job...it's not completely final, but I like your idea.
3) I haven't thought about that but it sounds like a really cool idea..I'm gonna look into it for sure!
(my lenses are what I painted..I didn't paint any chrome with the fogs...do you mean I should paint every bit of chrome in the fogs? including the part that reflects the light?...I live in a place where fog lights are mostly for show because we don't get horrible rain or crazy snow or anything like that..so doing that wouldn't really be a bad thing)

OK so last night I wasn't tired at all...so I was thinking of different ideas for the paint job....and I think I figured out one that I realllly like.

this one is a darker one:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/06/Darker-1.jpg

Lighter one:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/06/Lighter-1.jpg

I think it looks kinda different but still nice...
oppinions?

(BY THE WAY, if anyone wants me to do a photoshop to their car just PM me)

i like. i think would look better with outback bumper or jdm bumerp and fogs. that me i hate the bumper on out BE's

I think you should do the whole top of the car. Not only that, I was thinking about it.... Maybe you should just do the two tone in vinyl? Custom paint usually hurts the value of a car unless it's going to be a show car. The vinyl will be cheaper, and if you're unsatisfied, then you can have it removed.

As for the fog lights, I was suggesting yellow stain glass paint on the chrome reflectors, while you black out the surrounding parts that don't reflect light, then put the lense back on. Just an idea though, and I'd look at how the fog lights are put together, as some lights aren't assembled like the headlights are, so this might have a different epoxy to it.

BTW I saw another guy on here with projectors in his BE....I was getting scared because he said it took him 30+hours of work....took (no exaggeration here) 30 minutes total for both of the projectors to be inside the lights....we forgot the glue for the lenses so I can't tell you exactly how long for absolutely everything to be done.
took about 2 hours to install the HID tho...that was a toughy but it's all done and working great!!!

I'll post a ton of pics when it's all done and washed!!

He probably had self leveling HID's. He might've also redone the wiring, I'm not sure on HID's if they require more amps and such that a thicker gauge wire is needed than is stock. I hope you've aimed them things.

That's so effing weird, last week my friend and I were looking a ways to do two tone on my BE, checking out different body lines and what not, you saved me having to do a photoshop!

Just my opinion, not crazy 'bout the wing and headlights. Projectors don't work with those housings, looks out of place. I love the BE for what it is (the Japanese version that is). I believe in stock whether it be JDM or USDM, of course that's just me.

Cheers

It took longer because the reflector housing is taken out and cut wider for the FX35 projectors, then securing it to the reflector with bolts.

How did you secure your projector to the housing?

Supdood
07-02-2008, 01:37 AM
Haha we did the same exact thing. secured it to the reflector with bolts.

and legacyb4rsk I respect your opinion bro =]

Just finished reading the thread, great work on the lights. But didnt the car have separate high/low bulbs?
In my 01 BE there is a H1 for the highbeam and H7 for the low beam.
