so my carpets are getting a little discolored and i thought i would spray the carpet over. my curent interior is dark gray carpet, greenish leather seat, light grey headliner. and it would change to black carpet and headliner, and the greenish leather. any opinions?

if you're talking about re-dying the carpet itself, Duplicolor makes a spray dye specifically for that. i used it t dye the panel that covers the inside of the hatch lid on my wagon, worked pretty well.

i've been researching this for a while now, i'm trying to convert my beige interior to black/gray. The things i found out about dyes is they wear off unless done by a pro. and tend to cost a little too much for the quality offered. spray paint for fabric(duplicolor rattle can) has worked pretty well on the headliner for a few people over at nasioc,( search there for in interoir forum)dont know if it hold up though. Best solution i found is to get new carpet although not the cheapest, there are companies who sell vehicle specific or carpet by yard almost in every color/pattern imaginable. same thing for headliner get new raw fabric and just reupholster it will cost a little more but it will be new and color wont fade away.

here is more info on headliner

There is also a product called DYE-Rite I believe it's in a very small bottle usually found in the shoe polish section at any store that carrys it. Someone I know did there carpet, Seats, Headrests, headliner, all with that dye and he compared it to a dupli color and the black comparison with the dye-rite was way better than dupli.

how hard was it to get the carpet out of the shifter area near the firewall I mean. Did you have to unbolt the radio cage???

you need to just remove the center console its one piece, seats, theres two plastic screws on the passenger side up by the firewall, the footrest on the drivers side the plasitc peice under the gas pedal, the kick panels and the lower part of the B pilar, the clips under the kick panels, three clips under the rear seat, and 4 clips under the front seats two on each side...
after you get the center console off and the plastic peices. you just need to get the carpet out from under the pedals and the other side is a piece of cake.

Wow, thats awesome! I've been trying to resist vomiting over the brown interior I have and had already decided to paint the panels, but was seriously worried about having to buy carpet & headliner...what a relief!

it wears off in some spots. its not bad just need to touch up every so offen. and for winter it holds up as good as any other day. i think it would of come out better if the carpet was steam cleaned to get more of the dirt/stains out..
in the summer when my cars gets stripped for paint. i think im going to steam clean the carpet and redo it
