Hey guys I had just filled my car up with some quick fill can of A/C recharge and now my car squeals on and off. At first I thought it was my power steering but to no avail after I filled it up. It goes away after I get on the expressway. Once I hit stop and go traffic it comes back. This squeal is even more consistent when I have my A/C running.

the compresser might be frozen. but check if the belts are tight (about 1/2 inch of deflection) and the belts are dry and not shiny. if all that is good unplug the power for the compressor and see if it goes away. if it does its probally the compressor

where is the power for the compressor??

its the plug sitting right on top of the compressor

no difference. Also it has not been acting up as much. When I turn the car on it squeals till it comes back down to idle then squeals for about 5 seconds and than gone.

tighten up your a/c and alt/ps belts a bit see if it goes away.

Thats next on my list. Though it sounds like it is coming from the crank pulley!

they are connected to the crank pulley i believe. otherwise they would not run, cause the crank must power the accessories


sounds like a belt issue most likely w/ power steering, speaking from experience

Well today my car started to go crazy. Every time I would press the brake pedal or put on my turn signal my RPM needle would go to 0 but the car would still run. I got home turned it off and tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't. I let it sit about 5-10min and it cracked slowly then turned over. I busted out my multimeter and checked to see if the alternator was bad or the battery was bad. The battery was fine but the alternator was read up and down. So I looked over the the left of the alternator and saw that a bolt was missing a bolt witch holds up the left side of the alternator to tighten the belt up. I didn't have a extra screw and didn't want to go to the store so I ghetto rigged something to pull it up with. I pulled it up with my hand as hard as I could and bolted it down. Checked the belt and it was really tight and made sure all the connections were good. Turned the car on and viola no more squeal it was the damn alternator belt!!! Now the car lights seem brighter too witch is a + for night time. I will go and get a holder bolt for the alternator from a junk yard car so it'll match.
