As most of you probably know, the 05 Legacy has a problem with aftermarket audio (the head unit being attached to the A/C). Anyway, I've been running my ipod through an FM transmitter. It works fairly well, but it gets static in some places. I was wondering if there's some way I could get it going directly into my audio system without having to spend a whole lot of money. (I've got a cd player with no tape player, by the way.)

I was also looking for a set of tweeters that would work in my car. I looked at the ones from my brother's 02 forester, but the fittings don't quite match up.

Thanks for any replies.

I've seen an FM modulator kit that allows you to hijack the antenna cable and send you Ipod signal directly into the antenna cable. I think it was at Wal-Mart with the "Scosche" name....

As for tweeters, I'd reccomend you get an aftermarket sound system (ie: component speakers with separate tweeters)

Really sucks about it being attached. Is the actual unit behind the faceplate attached, or is it just the face. Because if its just the face, you could fab something up or look for an aftermarket adapter of some sort, I bet, that would work. Remove the AC/Radio unit and see what you can do to work with that :)

You can get the JDM double DIN faceplate/AC control panel replacement from AVO but no one has done the installation on USDM Legacies yet. Since you have the 2.5i, your stereo is NOT using the same PCB as the HVAC system. I've ordered the faceplate and it should be here soon. I also have Alpine Type S 6.5s for all doors but the problem is I don't know how to take apart the doors.
