i am looking to get a bigger hood scoop for a 2006 subaru legacy gt. any suggestions?

would a wrx or sti hood look bad on a legacy?

Yes, those would look bad on the extremely subtle lines of the Legacy.

The legacy scoop is MOLDED into the hood. The metal is formed around the opening, it's not just stuck on like the Impreza models.

But I can see that you're one of "those" guys.

The TMIC on the Legacy GT is small - opening up the scoop will do nothing for more effective cooling.

You could go FMIC, which is what you'll have to do if you're chasing big power anyway.

But I thought you were all about the performance, and that you were going to go "all out" on this car....

If you want a huge scoop, go buy an STi.

You either have to cut a larger hole or buy an after market hood with a different opening. It seems that if you're going for all-out performance you'll be going for a Front Mount IC anyway, so a larger scoop would just slow you down.

It's molded into the hood, nothing will bolt up, and the lines of the hood are completely different, so even if you hacked something in, I can't see it looking all that great.

If you really want a big scoop, you're going to need to buy a hood for an NA car and hack it up, and then fab ducting to make it direct to the narrower Legacy TMIC. I'd start at about a grand for parts + labor +paint.

i know its not the correct car. but its not going to stick on the car right. you have to hack up a good hood. and its just not going to look right on the car

You need to pickup a non-gt hood

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/07/2006_Subaru_Legacy_01-2.jpg

All thats left is to pick out the scoop you want from ebay, and cut the proper size hole. Fasten with screws/rivets/3m tape

This is about your only option since your hood scoop is designed to work with your hood design only. Similar to the new STi's.

Good Luck
