custom grill

ive seen people put them on and they can look really nice. i was just wondering what is the best type of mesh or wire that would work?
and how do you actually put it on?

I made one by hacking out the vertical parts of the grill and bondo-ing it all back together. Looks good in the pictures in the thread I posted it in, but since then they've started to crack up alot and the paint has faded.

I switched out the regular outback grille for one from a 95 Legacy L. It cleaned up the front end alot, however i failed to realize that the Outback bumper and the normal Legacy bumper came up to different points. There's a little bit of a gap in between the bumper and the grille, but other than that it looks GREAT!

What year is your ride? Usually cant go wrong by looking on ebay, lots of grilles there that you wont need to worry about making look good. That is the more expensive route though but not too much more and most are bolt on using the same bolts as your old grille

i used a piece of gutter guard on my 97, i also stole the legacy badge from my hatch to put it on the grille...

I used a glue just like bonding cement. I just reshaped the insert to fit an L model grill, and bonded it together from behind. I painted it after.

Total time: 30-45 mins.

Total spent: $18 for the original grill + Mesh + STi badge.
$0 for the bonding glue. Had it in stock at the shop. =)

Use whatever you feel comfortable with. Make sure you sand the contact points to ensure a good bond.
