what is the best paint to use for painting over over the woodgrain?

I like Krylon Fusion Satin Black.

I haven't tried it, but Plasti-Dip is known to work well too.

plastic dip is pretty good too. i will take pics when im finished with all the parts.

I used kitchen appliance paint on the ring around my gage cluster in white. Left everything else black.

I think you'd have to get a very dark bronze/gold for it to not look cheezy. Maybe add a brushed effect to it by scoring it with scuff pad when the paint is cured, then throw a coat of clear over it.

ok soo i eneded up going with gold and i think it looks pretty good.

yeah black plastic dip is awsome. i have to get e new test panel. i shouldnt have sanded it.

i used krylon and it worked awesome and dried in 20 min. i suggest rubbing down the pieces a lil bit with a scouring pad just to get like armour all and shit off. it takes the shine off but dont go too far with it.

True that, and some lacquer thinner and a tack cloth don't hurt either.
