JDM mirrors install? Anyone?

Does anyone actually have a DIY on the JDM Folding mirrors install for the BD series cars? I say the other DIY thread.. but.. didn't seem to have much info.

Do you have to use / modify the USDM stock bases in order for them to be actually useful?

How is the wiring?

Do you need to run a lot of wires to get them to work?



Any info would be great.. thanks!

I'm not going to use the stock base because my stock ones are one piece.

Ask Andivic he has a DYI for the Imprze GC that you can use for an idea. That's what I'm going to use. I'm just waiting for a friend of my to paint my to match my car.

I think you'll need to reuse your stock mirrors tho, you know the actual mirror because of the angle in the JDM ones or something like that

You have to run wires for the power folding function and if you have the heated option on your JDM's then you might have to run wires for that too.

Anyone know what color are the wires that control the heat on the JDM switch ?

Hmm, if you get heated JDM ones however.. would they still be heated? The mirrors themselves arent attached to the heating element? Weird.. sounds like too much hassle for me to want to deal with.

Mine are still sitting in the garage awaiting some spare time to finish the mods and paint them.

If you want the power fold and heating to work you'll need 4 more wires to each door iirc (2 for folding, 2 for heat).

As for the bases, I bought a pair of 96 2-piece usdm mirrors from a junkyard and swapped the bases onto the jdm mirrors. You'll have to mod the bases a little for clearance and you'll only be able to use 2 out of the three screws to secure them.

Because of the different angles you'll need to modify the contacts that control how far they fold, on one side they need to be shortened and on the other side lengthened. I haven't done that part yet.

It will still be heated, because the heating pads can be removed from the mirror. At first I thought it was alot of work, but I think I have it figured out

yeah, let me know what you have to do to get them installed.. i really want some.. but, i dont think i want to spend that much time on mirrors and such. Also.. where do you have to run the wires to.. the stock harness or what?
