Try some belt conditioner. You might have somehow gotten something on the pulleys or something of that nature. I can't think of anything else that would only be RPM relevant at the moment.
Edit: Also, how much slack do you have in the belts? They should have enough tension on them so that when you push the belt up and down at the midpoint between pulleys that it only moves about 1/2" either way.

that could be but true but i cleaned and blew compressed air on the pulleys. my tension is what it should be but would it do this if it was too tight? it did do this before the new belts also. could it be some sort of pulley bearings?

it could def be bearings in one of the pulleys, or maybe even your ac/alternator going
have someone press the gas while you try to locate the sound under the hood, because a general squealing can come from anywhere

it wont squeal in park or neutral, it has to be in gear. does this narrow it down?

it tells us it only squeals under load

any advise on how to narrow down my problem? if its a bad bearing would it show on my belts? how can you test for bad bearings, i dont think i can just take my belts off and start wiggling pulleys to find out.

well you might want to ask a subaru tach what it might be, becuase i know nothing about subaru engines except for they are boxer engines. and i dont knwo how much a bad bearing would affect the puller but the squealing you hear if its a bad bearing is the metal on metal contact. my suggestion is spray some lube on the bearings that arent going to be affect (dont spray your alternator or ac compressor) and see one at a time if it stops squealing then you will know wich one was making the noise
