Basically a glorified Home Depot lip...installed using the included pop-screws and self tapping screws as there wasnt enough of the later.

Cutting the backside that attaches to the bumper...basically to match the contours of the bumper since it's not flat like a mustang. You'll also need to trim the ends about 1" on each side after all is said and done.

I think the 03-04 Mach 1's got them stock, you can order them from the dealer ($100) or ebay as they're pretty popular with Fox body owners.

Someone did put an integra "type R" lip on their BH, it would look very stock if he had painted it to match the bumper.

I think he just needed a heat gun to manipulate some of the bends to fit more flush...

I need to pick up a new heatgun before I do my fenders anyway, my old one shit it's pants. If I end up going this route (I'd rather get the one from mr vermont if he'll come off it :hint hint:) I'll try and have someone here to take some pictures and see If I can't get the legacy community another good option.

I'm a bit confused, this car has a turbo, obviously money well spent, why not get genuine JDM BE parts (eg: front bumper, lip etc.) to complement the speed of this car, instead of these makeshift parts. No disrespect but it's looks rediculous.

Well Mr. RSK, not everyone has the same exquisite taste and love for the JDM that we do.

But honestly to each their own, it doesn't look that bad, and I bet it was a hell of a lot cheaper than any JDM piece we've bought.

I rather not everyone did JDM bits anyways :twisted:

Sorry, I can't justify spending 1000 on a bumper that I'll eventually have to hack up for the FMIC.

JDM parts are over-rated anyway.

You (as in the general SL-i community) can flame me all you want, but I never really understood the "because its from japan it has to be good!" mentality. You guys can enjoy your 300% markup just to have an extra speedhole or different colored lenses or whatever. :razz:

Anyway, function > form. A functional $65 lip I can afford to not worry about while beating on the car over all the surfaces I drive on is perfectly fine with me. :wink:

Also, HIDtroll can cry moar about the retrofits. He can put the shrouds in my headlights while Im not looking if he's so worried about how it looks :lol:

In the case of my headlights they are considerably better than my stock GT ones. Yes, the JDM counterpart is better. Did I pay more than your retrofit? Probably, but they do look stock and that's what I was going for.

Most everything else I have done is a matter of looks, maybe not to all, but to me. I happen to think the JDM BE tails look way better than the usdm ones, and no they don't do anything cool like shoot out little rising suns at the flick of the brake pedal, they're just different aesthetically, no better, no worse.

I am stuck on head lights :-D I'm a retro fitter. if u were a swapper. and saw someone put a BOV on there top mount instead of a recirc valve i'm sure u'd say something. I applaud him on the turbo I'm hella jealous of that. I wish I had that type of money. and yes i type with quick letters cause im posting from my iphone at work. so it seems slightly easier to type U than You. Sorry im a perfectionist with headlights. I would love to be with mechanics but I'm just learning Subaru stuff. I just spent the last 4 years learning my maxima. Lol.

I'm just a father of 3 that appreciates the beauty of the Japanese spec SUBARUS, turbos, no need, unless 10K falls on my lap for an STI swap. Other than that what I've done to my car turns heads. It's 100% genuine Subaru parts. I'm just more critical of how a car looks compared to how fast it is. I guess my car is "a sheep in wolf's clothing". What I would love to do is import a B4 RSK but it appears that to import a RHD car from Japan into Canada, the car has to be 15 years old. It's too bad.

Anyway, the reason I post anything on sl-i is to give other guys new ideas and options on what is out there; thats the point of a forum, to be able to share creative solutions to problems that other people may have. Just because no one has tried it doesn't mean it can't be done. I got parts made for Mazdas, Fords, and Chevy's on my car, and that's on top of the Subaru parts-bin trawling that I've been doing. :grin:

I started noticing more Legacy's sporting the original Home Depot lip for example :lol: :lol:

And on that note, I just put a WRX ladder brace on the car as well. I think the GC8 ladder brace will fit all NA legacy's as well. It should be a better bang for the buck chassis stiffening over front strut braces.

It'll have to be this one:

It bolts onto the rear control arm brackets, and the front control arm bushing bolts on the subframe. The subframes of all N/A subarus are pretty much alike, so the widths should be the same.

The wrx braces uses pickup points for the subframe brace that the turbo cars have (theyre next to the front control arm bushings). If you're running a wrx crossmember, these should fit.

I'm going to chime in and defend Ben here. I personally had a hand in making his car part of what it is now. And when it comes down to it, he thinks everything out to the fullest before making a decision. I could tell than when he brought us the parts for his swap...he knew what he wanted to accomplish, and what it would take to accomplish it.

Secondly, As far as I'm concerned, he isn't building a show car. He is building a car that he drives, and drives more than just back and forth to work. From my understanding, the car has seen plenty of dirt road time.

I know all of that doesn't really relate to the whole "headlight" "JDM" thing here, but the point is, its his car, he built it how he wanted to, so leave him alone. Obviously I'm a bit of a "JDM Whore" myself with some of my parts. But who cares, i like the way the car looks, plain and simple.

Give the kid some credit for doing what he did how he did it....Not everyone can take Projector headlights, and put different projectors in them, and call themselves a "retrofitter". He tried, he succeeded, and he has HID's.

Finally, Poeple have been driving without HID's for almost 100 years now, never been a problem before, why should it be a problem now? Has night gotten darker?....i think not.

Appreciate the comments, but I'm never offended by anyone who doesn't like how my car looks, so no defense needed :smile:. They should be working on making their car the way they want it, is all I'm saying.

I'm more entertained at all the comments than anything else though; I have a sense of humor when it comes to my car, so I never take anything seriously with it. It not be the same in a few months anyway just because I get bored:lol:

I think the oblique shots aren't the best with the lip, the head-on angle is pretty good - but I wasn't expecting much given its just a molded piece of black polyurethane. It is functional though, the car is a bit more stable during high speed turns (80+mph), but I'm thinking since my nose is a little bit lifted than the back (front camberplates do that, make note), that may have been contributing negatively to the aero before the lip.

The ladder brace is on though. I just tried the cheap $30 ebay brace...I needed to grind one of the brackets, fitment was decent otherwise. I'll get something up for that one down the line.
