1995 2.2l leaks oil everywhere in front of motor. Temp gauge works erractically, but never goes past half way, just works sometimes others not.
Car was 300.00 from a freind of mine. Bought it to help on gas milage and would like to keep it going. What do I need to do and is it worth fixing or run like it is??

first off sounds like you need to take the front pulley covers off and check the cam seals i believe they are worn out and must be replaced also you might need to change the valve cover gaskets and the seals around the sparkplug holes. good luck hope this helps

front main seal and thermostat possibly.

Make sure you keep thelevel of oil high enough.

yup.. im guessing front main seal as well.. this happened to me once.. it will be leaking from the front bottom of the motor.. or around there.. of course.. its going to be hard to tell because it will have gotten everywhere.

Crank seal

It does looks like it is leaking at the front main seal, at least how it was described. What am I looking at to replace these things? How hard/expensive is that to replace. Should I replace all of it myself or have a shop do it?
It only loses maybe a half quart or so a month... so far.. but makes a mess!!

+1 on the crank seal, mine was partially popped out, actually. It's not a hard job, especially on an SOHC. Install a new timing belt while you are in there.
