I've never seen this issue before. The car loses power to everything when you turn the key to start. Everything seems fine until then. Turn the key toacc. and the radio comes on, turn it to on and the gauges all light up, turn it to start the engine, and everything dies. Let the key go back to on, everything comes back on, but the clock and trip odometer are reset.

This has happened four times over the past month. Twice at work, I've popped the hood, looked at battery cables, can't find anything out of place. Then the car starts on the third or fourth try, and I have no idea what made it start. Once it died while I was driving. I was able to put it in neutral and start it, again on the third try or so. Now it's sitting at home, not starting even after more than 30 tries. Whatever wire was shorting or loose, is now permanantly so.

I'm sort of leaning towards the key ignition, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas?

Feels like ignition barrel to me as well.

Can you get a multi-meter and see if the car is getting a consistent 14v?

I can, but I'm not sure where I need to connect the leads. Is the ignition barrel easy to get to?

Pretty much, you just drop down the steering column undercover.

I will do this tonight and report what I find.

Thanks
