Quick INstall ?

I know the guy is asking about this in another thread. Just need to a quick question answered so i can ge4t this done today. Decided not to have it done at a shop for the moment. Everything is assembled and ready to go. I just want to know if i can but the front on stands and do the front, then lift and back and do the same, or do all FOUR wheels need to be off the ground to do this? Also bought some WRX Rims yesterday but my old ones are STUCK on there. Any suggestions on getting them off. Kicked the hell out of them to try to wobble them off, got one but others wont budge, man it would suck to get a flat and cant get the wheel off ha. Thanks -Nick

You mean fronts first, then rears later? Sure, just make sure you get an alignment after you're done.

Yup.. i did it. Have fun with it man.. its a pain in the fucking ass. I thought it would be relatively simple.. but.. unless you have an impact, 19mm deep sockets (need 2), PB blaster, and a 19mm offset box wrench / vise grips.. it will make things easier. Couple of things I learned along the way:

1. Make sure the top pieces of the suspension say 'out' when you put them back together.. also, on the rears.. make sure the arrows are pointing out when you put them back together. the arrow is near the FWD or AWD lettering.

2. Getting the bottom bolt off on the rear is a huge bitch.. make sure you soak it about 24 hours ahead of time with some PB blaster.. and use a 19mm box-end offset wrench, or vise grips to hold the nut while you try to take the bolt off.

3. Make sure you have a friend who is willing to help you.. i dont think there is ANY way i could have gotten the suspension back in without my friend helping me out.. no way in hell.

4. If you have a taper of some sorts.. that helps line the bolt holes back up on the suspension.. this came in SUPER handy.

5. Getting to the tops of the rear suspension on a sedan is a pain.. i had to pull out the complete back seat, and some of the plastic interior to get to it.. not to mention use a 12mm box end offset to unscrew everything.

Also couple of other basic things to think about. If your doing this on tar.. use good pieces of flat wood to put under jack / jack stands.. unless you like huge holes in your tar driveway. When you lower the car.. if you are going lower.. the jack may get stuck under the car.. so be prepared to have another jack to bail it out if you are jacking up the car from the rear differential, or front position.

I wish you luck man.. i started this by myself going slow last week.. and seriously.. took me over 4 days to finish it.. going slow and learning along the way and not having enough / not the proper tools.

yeah do it 2 at a time. and to get off the stuck rims leave on lug nut on a few thread an smack the back of the rim lip with a hammer on the inner side.

You dont need all four off to switch suspension. But as said before in here you should schedule an alignment.

As for the rims they will come off, just stop trying to make love to it and hit them. It's wheels, not a vagina.

Man trust me i beat that thing up like I do my GF's pussy every night, and that shit wouldnt budge at all. Took it over to these cool guys at MPH and the guy roundhouse kicked them off for $20 bucks, ha i know i shouldnt hve paid shit but whatever and I wanted the damn things off considering I drove about 2miles with two diff wheels. Suspension is gonna have to wait a few days cuz I never get work off. Was planning on doing it all in one day. Talked to this one guy buy my work who has a WRX and he did the same swap as me. He said it took him about 2hrs and they dont know much about it. Yea he told me I need to take out the back seats and whatnot. My car is do for an alignment so I was just waiting to do the suspension. MAN I hate seeing these parts laying around. Also has anyone ever done there ball joints or should I have a shop do these? Be careful driving around with diff wheels.. specially if they are diff size and such.. i think it can fuck up your differential.. so ive been told. not sure how true that info is however.

To remove stuck wheels try this next time, loosen the lugnuts to about 1/2 turn from finger tight and drive the car forward and back SLOWLY. They should loosen up.

Works every time.

Yeah I lowered the car with them half on and got the first two off, thats an even better idea. I will use it in the future if needed. Thanks
