I thought about an oldschool Legacy, but decided Id rather spend it on something else.
Older SVX (5500), new paintjob (1000), rims/tires (1000), springs and shocks (500)
Id love to have a blingin SVX :-D

rims and tires will run you more unless you are going full-on used.
I paid $400 for 01 RS rims (no tires) and $500 for 05 LGT rims (with OEM 17" RE92 tires....400 miles old).
RS rim price was shipped.
LGT rims were picked up locally.
Find a good shape body with a 2.2turbo and you can rebuild that beast. The body is important, cause thats what is going to hold all your other mods.
always avoid the rust...body work (unless done by yourself) is hardly ever cheap. You'll always find more problems the more you dig....by the time you see the crap on the surface, the stuff underneath is just plain UGLY.

There is a website that is from japan but it is in english where you can purchase twin turbo legacy wagons for $2K and then pay $2K to have it shipped over and the rest to have it DOT legalized. Thats what I would do.
BEEEOTCH!!!

Here are a list of websites that import to the states.
http://www.mitz-trading-japan.com
http://www.batfa.com/usedvehicles-subaru-stock.html
http://www.kinki-company.co.jp/s_s_offe ... ubaru.html (http://www.kinki-company.co.jp/s_s_offer_list/cars_subaru.html)
The last one is one of the largest in Japan. I came...() <--- that close to importing a twin turbo wagon from them.

I wouldn't give a shit about any of those things. I would swap VINS and drive it like I stole it.
Just don't fark up and you won't get caught.

found a yellow 03 baja on autotrader, for $4500. it's wrecked in the right front. it would probialy take $2000 to fix, doing most work myself. rest of the cash for rims, and cost of getin it home. baja's are sweet. :-)

Isn't that a felony when you DO get caught??

I live near Miami, there are so many imported stolen cars here to make the cops heads spin. But you didn't hear that from me.
IF you live in some place like....lets say...WISCONSIN...it might look a little funny driving on the wrong side of the car.
Totaly dooable in moist major cities.
