I am trying to get my stock air intake to pull in nice cold air from the inner fender well
this is of course the stock intake :( hot engine bay air intake

this is as far as i can seem to get ( wow one bolt and plastic piece )
i want to remove the snorkle thing that goes between the filter box and the piece i took off
am i going about this in the right way to get cold air into the intake instead of the engine bay air?

you will feel a noticable diffrence if you pull the intake silencer out of the fender.
I had a Cone filter installed and it made little power difference (Just pure noise) i am using regular non performance filter in it feels just as reactive as the cone.
I am going to buy a intake tube but i think i might just keep the box instead of a cone.

nah you can see the top bolt, the other one is underthe car, just pull the black thing under the car that covers the fog lights and stuff and you find the other nut, pull that off then you can pull it out with ease.

You will also want to take the airbox off and remove that horn on the inside to allow even more air to come in and also gives it a little more roar.

You don't need to take that off. Actual it's better to keep it in to help direct the air in the box from the fender. If you take it off you exposed the box inlets to engine bay heat. Some Japan sites sell, what you like to call "horn" replacements with an aluminum piece. Keep the thing in, that's all you needed to take out.

Don't forget to buy or install a fender plug to cover the top hole in the engine bay.

That "horn" is a velocity stack. It helps air to be directed in a smoother fashion.

Didnt think of that, i will take that advice too. just gotta find a parts dealer that will ship here.
i think getting a good tube from the airbox to the intake will free up air flow a bit.

I can look at mine and take the part number off it. Maybe it has changed. I just to the dealer I need a fender plug and they knew what it was. It's disturbing when the the dealer is clueless.

While on this topic, is K&N the only company that makes square performance filters? (For the OEM Box)

Green filters and True Flow (foam). There may be more.
