Axle Shaft Grease Leakage.

Anyone got this in the mail from Subaru? I'm not sure if it's an old campaign or not. I rarely get anything done at Subaru (only 1 time for balljoints) but yeah, what's needed to be done for this grease leakage deal? does it apply to the front axles or all 4 axles? (I have aftermarket fronts)

I guess I need to call and make an appointment to see whats up :eek:

i think its just front from what i read. they say they do a re-boot on the axle shafts

well you could have your aftermarket re-booted if you wanted to waste 2 hours at the dealer

well, I do notice the sticky crap all over my inside of the wheels :neutral: ..its not that bad though..

will it cause any damage long term wise?

It makes complete sense that this is for OEM parts - it's a factory recall campaign. I can't see a manufacturer warranting non-OEM parts.

I couldn't get any info on the campaign number, so no idea what years it's for.

If your axle boot is leaking grease, eventually it will run out and you'll be spinning dry bearings. If you keep it packed with grease, it might survive awhile longer, but you will eventually need to reboot it or replace the axle.

I might call up my dealership and ask them if it deals with my year car..might be worth a shot in the dark at some free preventative maintenance

It's a free service they perform. I went to my dealership the other day, and the service manager had absolutely no clue what i was talking about. I guess it would help if i would of brought the letter..still, they could of look it up on the computer :roll:

I just called mine and asked.. and doesn't apply for me apparently. :/ i want free service dammit.. i would love to bug the stealership for free shit.

the year its for is 99 only. idk auto or manual and what models is applys to

nah, mines a 99, and MT.. and it was not listed for my car.

well it all depends on production date and vin's and revision's maybe your not in the list

idk maybe it includes some 98's late models. but SOA said it only falls under MY99??
