Before I go buy a battery I figured I would see if anyone else has had this problem.
Seems like evry time I park the car for more than 8 - 10 hours the battery drains. When I get in the clock still shows the correct time, but as soon as I hit the ignition the clock and trip meter reset and the car cranks slowly till it starts. That is if it doesn't click a few times before even cranking at all. I noticed this before I took the car back to the dealer to have the clutch replaced. I told them about it and they said the battery checked out fine, but replaced the terminal on the pos battery lug. This is happening on the 2000 Outback that I traded the GT for so I don't know how old the battery is. It has Subaru stickers on the battery so I wouldn't be surprised if it is the original, but it doesn't have the month/year check on it so I can't be sure.
When I went out this morning voltage at the battery was 12.4 before starting. It did the same thing when I started it and voltage at the battery with the car running was 14.6. looks to me like the alternater is charging but the battery keeps dropping when parked for very long.
I've also done resistance checks from the neg terminal to the block, intake, strut towers. and body. All read 0 ohms. Anyone have any ideas for other things to check, or should I just buy a new battery?
