not sure where this goes....steering problem

my steering rack boots are both shot...the passenger one rides on the steering bar and you can hear it grinding

i looked under the car yesturday and there was some fluid leaking from it

any ideas on exactly whats wrong and what needs to be replaced?

I think you answered your own question. You need to replace the boots on the steering rack and replace your power-steering fluid.

Or if there's something serious (which I think there is) going on, you might have to replace the whole rack. Not a big job, but time-consuming from what I understand.

i know i need the boots...ill post a pic of one of them after work

is it safe to pull the parts from a yard?

I prefer new parts... but if money is tight, sure. Just be sure to clean them up before buying them.
