wrx parts on ej22t

so i have the beloved 1991 legacy turbo, it lacks a little in the seat of my pants, so naturally i think bigger turbo, an intercooler, blah blah, just betterthan stock right.
so wrx obviously comes to mind, i know a Stock wrx intercooler and turbo will bolt on but can i buy performance wrx parts and not really have to worry about problems with my internals and such holding up?
if i were to buy an upgraded turbo setup for a wrx would it be too much for my little 1991 ej22t to handle or would it cope just fine. (looking for a mild to midrange wrx upgrade, not too crazy, btw.)

tranny is good, good compression, no major oil leaks,, coolant mixes with oil from minor head gasket issue but has been like that for like 4 years now and there hasn't been an issue yet, just a coolant hose now and then from oil breaking it down but thats about it. ;-)

You think a WRX turbo will "bolt on?"

It might weld on or fab on then bolt on but I doubt it will bolt rightr up.

The TD04L-13C will bolt up to your DP and up-pipe but the compressor inlet setup is very different and requires quite a bit of custom work.

A lot of WRX parts fit but they don't all work. The WRX tmic is a good upgrade (I run one) and there clutch and flywheel kits swap over (have to both though). WRX front brakes are a good upgrade but you need to run a least 16" wheels to clear the calipers.

You EJ22T block is waaaaaay better then the EJ20T. It's closed deck and can handle ungodly amounts of boost. The heads are the weak point really. They're only good to about 300 chp and taper off up high pretty bad. Stock internals are good to about 350 chp with a proper tune. OEM EM is pretty easy to work with but it doesn't allow you to really push the performance.

Here's what I'd do. Install the WRX i/c, a boost gauge, a MBC and a TBE. Turn your boost up to about 12 psi. This will give you a little more ooomph at a very safe amount of boost. If you install a FCD then you can turn the boost up a little more too.

If you want even more power, then a turbo, fuel pump, injector and EM upgrades are in order.

well i already have a mbc, and a boost gauge, and have a fcd is ordered because i need that before i can go higher than my 11psi i'm already running, also i've heard the STOCK wrx tmic is a too tall for a legacy is this true? aftermarket ones may fit but i haven't heard alot of feedback on those.
So u think an aftermarket turbo upgrade kit for wrx would work and hold up just fine?
i'm well aware of the slight modifications but i've had to do alot worse than this requires
