Seeing as I now have a '97 GT Wagon in silver, I'm reallly digging the wheels which came on the Japanese version. Anyone know who may carry them in North America and what the average going price for a mint set (no curb rash, bend or cracks) go for ?

Nice choice. Don't know of anyone in NA that carries them, but I'm sure if you scour rinkya.com they may have some....its a Japanese auction that allows non-Japanese nationals to bid and purchase....warning though, they may have some high third party fees.

Another thing to do is maybe approach someone on ebay (preferably a PowerSeller) in Japan to see if they can acquire some for you.

Another avenue to try is JHOTexports who are located in Georgia, USA and Japan. Their yard and warehouse is in Japan, and they frieght stuff over to their US warehouse. You can see some of their auctions on ebay.

My guess is that you're looking at $400 alone for decent condition rims. Why so high for just decent used?

Shipping won't be cheap, unless you can find them in the US...then shipping is usually around $40-80 depending on which carrier you choose (Canada and custom fees will raise the price)

Good luck!

Try JDM-Place (www.jdmplace.com (http://www.jdmplace.com)), which is in Toronto. They may be able to source those wheels for you. If you're a member of the Toronto-Subaru-Club, you can talk to them on the forums. They had a set of the smoked BG taillights (very rare) just like in that pic you posted, but they were sold a few weeks ago.

I hope you're saying $400 EACH. Because there's no WAY you'd get them for $400 a SET. ;)

Word of warning - they are reselling in NZ for approx NZ$800-1200 depending on condition - and that's in a place that regularly gets sets in.

They are the lightest 17" Subaru made at the time - not sure if the STi's BBS rims are lighter.

Um, yeah, thats, um what I meant...each.

(inside voice: boy, I was off)

Too rich for my blood. I'm too used to seeing domestic stock rims (rather plain looking) go for comparable numbers.

(nothing wrong with plain looking....keeps the punks and theives away from the sleeper... )

Interesting note though about the weight of them.

Now now guys, quit the infighting . I'll say one thing, I"m not paying $400 US @ wheel  Cajual, I'll see what JDM place has, I've been a member on TSC for a while, just don't post a whole lot.

Now does anyone know how durable these wheels are ? Since they're light, did Subaru make them strong as well or are they easily warped ?

Who's infighting?

Anyway, I've never heard of a Subaru OEM wheel breaking or warping unless you're rallying or hit a monster pothole...I mean MONSTER pothole. Just because they are the lightest, doesn't mean they are chintzy.

If Huffer says they are demanding that kind of price, and are sought after....I don't think that means they come out of round that easily.

The monster pothole story was a STi rim in Boston, MA....but thats Boston for you. Stupid roadwork.

Did you ever find someone in NA that sells these? I want the same ones.

I love those wheels too, but I don't think I've ever seen a set of them on eBay before.

I've seen the 18" Spec B wheels from '05 up, they're pretty hot too and they usually sell for $800 - $900 a set. But shipping is very expensive, usually $250 - $300 for the set.

Yeah I've seen those as well, I just really dig the other ones.......

I nearly had my hands on a set for around US$600 last summer. Couldn't work out the shipping from the United Kingdom though.

Just an FYI for anyone still looking for stuff. The UK is *quite* interesting.

Just to give you a ballpark the last set Phil (JDM-P) had was going for $850CAD. TSC regulars can usually barter a bit. Or you can try your luck during his spring sales...hmmm that's coming soon...

I think you're going to have to do a little more legwork than that.

You'd be surprised how much leg work I've already done. Check every subie website out there and you will probably find a thread started by me asking this very question. I wish someone could just point me in the right direction. Honestly at this point I might as well fly there and pick them up:(

You will have to order these through a Japan parts breaker.
Unless you can find someone stateside who will sell them.

WAS is the key word here. I talked to him about it last week and he said he had someone interested in them. Try giving him a call. His next shipment's in April, so he may be able to source something for you. The last set he has is pretty much brand new:

I may have to resort to picking up the HKS coilovers from him if I don't find anything soon. :?

To all the US peeps, the shipping and duty will probably eat any savings you may get, but try your luck.

Here's something I found:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=51078857 (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=51078857)

17's b4 rims / gtb rims... the 5 spoke ones with slits in each spoke. without tyes, darkish colour look mean on wrx's, legacys etc... in aucks. minor curbing barely noticable one rim is missing minor paint about 2cm long again barely noticable. (no tyres)

will fit all subaru's may fit other 5 stud cars...was running 215/40/17's tyres.

NZ$450 no reserve cheap as

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/70/19005170_full.jpg

That's the lowest I've EVER seen a set priced at initially.

Damn that is cheap, wonder what the cost of shipping those to the US would be. Any idea on the conversion rates from Auk to US?
