you should try a lil experiment, Cut the bottom of the intake silencer put it bak on and drive/press the car around your block , you wont regret it lol

yous told me not to get that intake...i got it and hooked it up...i just need a steel pipe to put in to finish

my dad wanted me to use pvc haha

Reason

I seen PVC CAI on a few Hondas before lol Cardomain

its not a CAI....just a better intake i guess you can call it

Reason

woop. i hope you like the maf problems between 1000-1850 rpm (the maf voltage goes crazy and just dumps fuel  )

thats @ wot according to the thread @ nasioc the problem is porportional to amount of throttle and the snokrus is a resonator that prevets the air in the intake system from acting like a spring and causing the maf problem as it regesters way to much air and then the ecu runs rich

in a stick shift i really never see those rpm's while driving so i dont worry about it.

GTDrifter
07-29-2008, 10:35 PM
yeah...not really a cai or a short ram...just took out the snorkus to the filter box and replaced that with a cone filter...sounds nicer...need to get a pipe from the oxygen sensor to the maf

btw...what does the maf do?

and on the pipe from the o2 sensor to the maf...that little pipe that goes its own way...what is it and what does it do????

I guessed intake... +1 for the negros

thats looks cool...

not to rain on your parade or anything, but im pretty sure you're engine will just be sucking hotter air now than it was before. As much as the CFM count will be higher, the air is much hotter than what used to come up ur snorkus and into the airbox. So its for show, but hey, I have the same thing...

*Devil on left shoulder voice*
Put ths snorkus back on and cut the bottom off, You will be surprised *Whistles* I am serious too, Try it, i only experimented with it but i dont want to take it off because it performs better than a K&N cone filter. (i am not even using a Performance filter in the box)

i had a cone filter on my car once, low end throttle response sucked but it did make my car sould like a honda when in high RPM!! :(

EDIT: nvm ur intake setup is diffrent from mine....

I always laugh at the use of the term CAI on the US subaru sites... They aren't cold air intakes at all!

the maf is the "mass air flow" sensor, it tells the engine how much air is coming into the engine so it can inject the right amount of fuel

its not a cai...i know its not....once again its not even done and its not for show considering the only people that see it are yous, my dad, me, my gf, and my friend that put it in without me knowing exactly...he just started taking bolts off haha

that plan is to get a fender plug, put the filter in the fender, new piping
the clip to keep my bumper close to the car has been snapped since i got it...i just looked and saw it yesturday so i have to do something about that

i took the backing plate off my hood and it was keeping my engine the same temp...anyone have an intake pipe? i dont feel like spending $50 just for the pipe from autozone

Its a type of silencer, it changes the flow of air after the MAF. Its not needed.
