Took engine out to change HG's (so ignore my other post about it not being HGs, it turned out i twas in the end) anyway, after putting it back in I have a couple of probs. One is that the steering has a kind of vibration as you turn it lock to lock, can be felt through the steering wheel, still steers ok though. Ive bled the air as it states and made no difference. The other thing is I have a whine which is dependant on engine speed, i thought it might be a turbo but i can hear the turbo spin down as you switch the engine off and its not that (its a TT btw). I did wonder if it was the steering pump but it doesnt seem to change as you turn the wheel. It wont do it when stood ,only when driving under load.
Any ideas? (dont reeally sound like a bearing, or a rubbing of anything. to be honest it sounds like a worn out brush on an electric motor running on the armature segments (for those of you who have had the brush collapse on their electric drill))

check to make sure your engine mounts and accessory belts are snug

Make sure the belts aren't too tight also, should be able to move up and down some between pulleys.

^^ specifically, 1/4" deflection at max.
