Ok, I have checked out MySubaru.com and they "recommend" to change the fuel filter after 60k miles. I've also been using Shell gas (regular) since i got it (19k miles ago) and I'm pretty sure previous owners forgot to change the fuel filter for quite some time. My car has 144k miles on it and my question is, is it worth changing the fuel filter or would it hardly make a difference since the gas is generally clean here in N. America. Thanks.

lol.. yeah i dont think the gas is clear anymore in the states its like a light clear brown.. at least around here.. here the tanks are all 15 or more years old. so theres a little ground water in it  so i replace my fuel filter every 12,000 miles

I would think a partially clogged filter may also lead to premature pump death although I have not heard much about these pumps dying. Some cars are more susceptible than others....
Just change it and don't worry! Be Happy!

yeah, I can see the logic behind that.... the pump can be overworking itself if the fuel is inefficiently passing through a dirty filter.
