Hi guys, I just bought my Legacy a few weeks ago and I love it, aside from a few problems I've been having. =\ One of which involves the starter. Every once in a while, the car won't start at all. I don't even get it cranking! :-( The previous owner told us that it was the solenoid in the starter, and that it was sticking to the sides. So his solution was to use the lug nut wrench that came with the car, pop the hood, and knock on the starter while someone tried to start the car. It seems to work, but I think that it would be quite embarrassing to have someone knocking on the starter while I'm trying to leave school  So what I was wondering was, how can I fix this problem? Do I need to replace the whole starter, or is there a simple solution for this? Thanks

Replace the starter. It's not hard and you can get a core refund on the bad one.

if you have this style starter.. you can do this is real cheap.. you can either do just the contact or contact/plunger. i think the contact/plunger kit from subaru is around $20 or so.. but then finding a place for contact is hard.. i can get the contacts if you cant find them
