I contacted subarugenuineparts.com for a price on a shifter boot. they sent me back this part number: 66121FA000. I placed my order for it yesterday and today i recieved an email saying that part does not fit the VIN i provided (Which I clearly stated i had a 97 Legacy when i first asked for the part). the email said that the part I had placed an order for was for an Impreza, and that I cant get just a shift boot for a legacy. He said I had to order the part number: 92070AC010 which is significatly more then the boot alone he first gave me the part number for.

Any body ever try and put an impreza boot on their legacy?

In the OEM parts catalog the part number 66121FA000 is for a:

Console - Front console - Boot - Manual trans
Manual trans - 1993-97 1993 - 1997

and the part number 92070AC010 is for a:

COVER CONSOLE BOX

You want stock or any boot that will fit. These guys make good stuff.

Yeah, I've heard about those guys. Does their stuff fit like stock? work with the stock knob fitting that holds the boot up? i dont need anything fancy like multi colors or anything, just something stock looking. But if i have to buy all that plastic piece from subaru just to get a new boot, i will probably go another route.

if you look under 95-99 legacy they have two examples with a factory shift knob.. you can make them look stock with black leather and black stitching
