View Full Version : A very serious question...honda...

I have been wondering this for a while, but just want to bring it publically...

My buddy gave me a civic si with a ls integra swap...b18a1...well anyways...the thing looks like a pile of crap...holes in the body, weird paint patches, cracked sunroof from the famous not fully latched honda hood. It's not my car to keep but to drive and maintain til the wrx swap is done or however long...so my question.

Why is it that a honda needs to be a huge pile of shart to get a lot of respect? I take this thing to Milwaukee to do some cruising and I have people coming and hording around my civic, and often being offered things on trade. Basically my buddy told me to sell it if someone offers a good price...so I'm half tempted to just sell the thing because it's not that impressive...

I'm taking it to the strip on friday...I'm hoping 14.8 in it but no guarantees...however anyone else notice this? It's not just mine, it's like every where I look around me...and if there is a nice looking civic it's going to have the stock d series or similar...I'm just confused

In the subie world some really pieces get swapped, but mostly it ends up being high dollar swaps to begin with and a subie owner doesn't sweet over the $2500 tag for a wrx engine...so....roll with me here...thoughts?

Most of your problem with Subie swaps are part availabilty (Supply vs. Demand) and the fact that our swaps aren't really plug and play. There's some pretty extensive wiring to be done to go from an N/A EJ to a WRX or STi motor, even if they will pretty much bolt up.

People want hondas because their aftermarket is cheap and extensive. The same is not so for the subies until you get into the 2002+ Impreza and 2005+ Legacy. That's just how it is.

"guys, why there is so much civic? cause it is cheap car like golf...the look of civic is like shit, no style no history- take a look at Legacy. those how hate Legacy try to look at new Legacy and wrx.
Legacy forever. Was riding Legacy GT, then STI. Forget civic find something better then few Hs, find revolution."

Props if u know where it came from :)

it's from PRoN. (adapted).

parts availibility, cost, and dumb buyers are why the honda aftermarket is so strong.

Um... what engine is it out of? IIRC an LS Teg had a B17?

LS Integra has a B18 in it.

I thought it was just the GSR that had a B18....well that and the Type-R

I think the difference is the heads and internals used. I'm so out of sync with Hondas at this point.

Subaru owners hate on Hondas. Perhaps some Subie people never owned one?

Honda's are lighter than Subies. They are cheaper to own. True, you can beat on a Subaru, but you can really really beat on a Honda and it still runs.

They get better gas mileage. Parts are abundant, and easy too swap.

I had a 2000 Civic SI for awhile. You know what? My car is tons faster and a lot of fun, but I wouldn't mind owning another SI. I would redline that sucker all day long and still walk away getting 33mpg. For a FWD car it handled nice. A few suspension mods and I wouldn't say it would handle better than my car, but there is something to be said for a small car that is light and nimble on it's feet. I would say as a commuter day to day car to live with, the Honda is much better in some respects. Don't get me wrong. I love AWD, but it's not necessary most of the time.

You can't beat Honda for efficiency as far as N/A 4 bangers.

With that said, they are rice magnets. There are a ton of them modified in poor taste. They are also thief magnets. The body panels of Hondas are very light, which is why you see tons of Hondas with small dings in all the panels.

People dont really hate on hondas (Beleive it or not), its the boneheaded drivers that navigate them.

I never owned a honda, never will.. Only because i have a Front wheel drive Phobia. (however it is spelt)

Given that Hondas outsell the vast majority of vehicles on the road today, the majority of drivers are thus, boneheaded.

Nothing wrong with Hondas at all, it's the certain people who own them give them a bad name.

Here in Milwaukee, Honda's are theft targets, hide that thing or someone will steal it or break into it. I could quote numerous personal experiences, but I type slow.

Anytime a modded/noisey Honda goes thru my alley I get nervous. It's my version of "profiling".

I can't stand the wine of their engines...and I like torque...that is actually down low.

I don't hate them per se...but probably wouldn't own one.

The Hondas around here are complete pieces of crap, completely riced out. They look and sound like crap, and are slow as hell. I've seen maybe 2 Hondas I would actually drive. And even then, I don't want to be part of that community of ricers, so I wouldn't drive it anyway.
