Need to modify the U-joint or switch to a WRX steering column.
The one you want is the 05+ WRX's, which has the same ratio as the STi's. The others all use the same ratio (or close enough).
Another method is to buy a quickrack made for a GC RS. Those are even quicker than the STi rack, and even the EVO rack. Theyre whats used on rally cars and such.

Will I still need to mod the U-joint for the GC quickrack? Also, if I swap to an entire WRX or STi column, will re-wiring the airbag be possible?

You'll have to use the steering wheel from whichever car you get the rack from.
The Quickracks cost about 1000, but you can reuse your column. The difference is the NA cars have a different spline pattern than the turbo car column.

If you get a quick rack designed for a USDM GC you won't have to mod the linkage, it will bolt right in.
For a WRX or STi rack you will need to mod the linkage, swapping to the WRX/STi column is more trouble than it's worth for the BD/BG chassis.
The linkage mod is fairly simple, I didn't look to see if the Legacy power steering lines would bolt to the WRX rack as I'm using the WRX pump & lines.

Why are you doing this mod if you don't mind my asking? Are you trying to get a quicker ratio setup? Check this link out for some ideas http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1310706 (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1310706)
