I know there are a few other write ups. but this has a few lil things that may help you, that pissed me off, like trying to get the clip off and so forth.

Ok so i ordered a MSD ignition from Reason. I got a Flat Pin ignition.

the harness got lost in the mail so I went to the local junkyard to snag a harness/clip.

first off:

And these have a type of locking pin on them so when u remove them from the stock neon coil u have to push in on this part marked:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/08/2zr1hdv-1.jpg

So I installed the ignition with the MSD facing forwards. The spark plug wires plug in the same order as the stock did.

(This is for a phase 2 5gt)

now for wire colors:

for the gt phase 2 These are how the wire colors matched up.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/08/2aaaj3a-1.jpg

YELLOW from Subaru goes to GREEN on the Neon clip

BLUE from the Subaru goes to BLACK on the Neon clip

RED from the Subaru goes to BLUE on the Neon clip

Phase 2 engines don't line up bolt wise, So i just used 1 bolt for now to hold it down till this weekend when I have time to make a custom bracket.

Now for the Gains:

Idle evened out and was much smoother, when i started it before it would goto 1300rpms for like 30 seconds than drop to 750ish, now it goes straight to 750.

Shifting: For those with autotragics this removed that little Bump* between shifting gears. now the shifting is much smoother, when flooring it, or cruising slow. or self shifting, the transition is much smoother.

Exhaust: The sound is a little bit more noticeable and slightly louder. Nothing to major but I just have 100% stock intake/exhaust so i noticed the change. Not sure what it will do with aftermarket exhausts. I did take a video clip of my stock exhaust after the swap so you can hear it, I will post it tomorrow when i get a chance to upload*

MPG: ??? not sure yet, i just installed it, and reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery negative cable and pushing down on the brake pedal for 60 seconds. So I will keep everyone updated come Friday

You are incorrect about the pin comparison. The round pin connector is for the earlier models, and flat pins are the later version. Nice write up though.

So now because of the info you posted and some guy wants to do this orders a flat pin MSD and grabs a round pin from a 95 neon because if the incorrect info. Why is there an argument with this? It is what it is.

The CORRECT info is as follows.

95 -96.4 use rounded plugs, 96.5-2005 use flat plugs

It was how you worded it, you said neons and sebrings were flat, talon and eclipse were round. You didn't say you noticed this.

You need to put in consideration of early and late production cars. My 97 was made early 97 and had a few parts from a 96. Why do you think they always want you VIN number?

You did this nearly three years ago. I'm curious about long term effects. Anybody who has had one of these bolted on for more than a year or so care to share experiences?

Also, Reason seems very knowledgable on this. I'd also like to hear about how it works out long time.

Any suggestion for a '06 Limited BL Sedan? VIN: 4S3BL62666 7202720

Let me know
