what are you putting it on? if its a legacy the hangars on the exhaust will have to be modified. and if your putting it on a wagon the pipe has to be extended 3-4" for it to show. nice find tho i was dumb enough to trade mine away for new tires

well let me tell everyone right off, this WILL NOT fit on a BE legacy I dont care what anyone says. The exhaust that is stock on my car has a "s" bend where the flange is. The STI axle back is straight!, i would have to buy a whole new mid pipe or seriously modify the axle back ! So i guess my investment does not pan out! and now i hope the guy i got it from will take it back or I will have to find some one to take it off my hands!

An exhaust shop would make it fit nicely.

I don't know who ever told you the sti catback will bolt right up to you, but there's plenty of people here that have documented what it takes to get one of these onto a BE/BH, and it always requires a welder.

Nice! I had a WRX axleback but decided it wasn't worth it to get it mounted. Let us know how it goes!

Looks like one of these would bolt up nicely to my BC. Is it bolt-on for me? I'm pretty happy with my glasspack though.

I had no problems with the bends of the piping to get it to adapt to my car, the hangers just needed to be modified, and it needed a new flange...

I can't imagine that the BE is that dramatically different.

Not to mention that I got the idea of adapting STi exhaust onto a Legacy from a guy who had it done with a BE.

A new midpipe really can't be very expensive...

What?

I guess so. I'm lost. I know his is an STi, and I know it does take some modification to make it work. Whats the issue?

he was pointing out (i hope) that i already stated i wasnt going through putting it on, I want a new mid pipe however i was at 7 different local muffler shops, even one that does all custom work said there was NO way to get the STI axle back onto my car even with a new mid pipe.. so unless someone can post detailed pics on how they got there STi axle back onto there BE, becuase the BE and BD exhausts are completely different, I would love to see other wise, its still up for sale at a lower price cause im sick of looking at it!!!!!

Im sorry but I find it hard to believe you went to 7 shops and they said it couldnt be done. They can just hack off the end and weld up pipes if needed and redo the hangers. This has been done many times and I dont thinks its ever been a HUGE problem. IDK though you could be right.

yeah it took 20 mins for my wrx muffler at the muffler shop 300 ft from my place, he moved the hangers and extended the pipe on the back so it would hook up hell he welded the muffler back up in no time.

Yeah, maybe they're not just thinking about rewelding hangars or something, but the exhaust bends are roughly the same - I find it hard to believe that those shops all said it couldn't be done. Unless you went to like 7 midas shops or something...

You must be speaking a foreign language to them.
The shop I went to relocated the hangers, rotated the flange, cut and bent a new midpipe and welded on flanges. Bolted up, out the door in under 2 hours.

well i really think that the "muffler " shops around me are dumb, becuase I san look at it and can tell what needs to be done to install it, I EVEN asked about just making a new mid pipe, and the 2 people told me that i cant do that becuase there is a cat. in the mid pipe. I really need to take some pics of the underside of my car, mabye I got some freak car i dont know. However Like I stated every shop, not just midas and monore or cole, told me that there was NO way to get it to fit under my car. I have 1 more place to try INNOVATIVE TUNING which is not far from my house, they just close early. They specialize in subby parts. Mabye they can help.

however Ive pretty much given up on getting the STI axle back on my car and moved on.

The places that you are going to are scared to touch the cat in the STi catback because they will infringe on EPA regulations. What they are not realizing is that your car already has two cats PRIOR to the midpipe, up near the header.

Here, I'll take that off your hands. Don't worry, if you just want to hand it over, it'll fit nicely on my ride...

Those are NOT cats on the midpipe, it's just a resonator.
