So i've been researching for a new intake for my 97 Outback and I have a few questions. I have found a few good threads here and there but I need some definitive answers.
Anyway, I have only found a few actual kits made for my year of car, one from Cosmo Racing, and one from the Weapon R intakes but they seem too expensive. I was also looking Ebay. There seem to be a lot of intakes for the same year Impreza and they look about the right dimensions but I am unsure. So my questions are:

1: Is it worth buying the kits from Cosmo or Weapon - They seem a little pricey
2: Will the Ebay intakes for the Impreza fit my car, if so, what modification is necessary?
3. What type of cone filter will have the best filtration? - I don't want to skimp on this
4: Is there any way that I can totally ruin my new engine from this?

All I know is intakes for impreza's should fit and it shoudln't harm your engine...I think

Alright, that's good to hear! I see some of the ebay intakes come with 3 vacuum tubes but I only see 2 plugs for them to attach on the tube... Is the plug hiding somewhere or do you have to do the mod in Plays_With_Toys to attach the 3rd vacuum line? http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=1479

Also, should I replace the filter included with the Ebay intake? Or will it be ok?

A lot of people run the eBay intake and claim good numbers from it. It seems like a good bang for your buck. Personally I went with the Cosmo just because I knew for sure it would fit without any modification. The only issue I had was with one of the vacuum lines (on the bottom of the intake) as the stock rubber tube wasn't quite long enough. An elbow joint was all it took to fix it.

Read up the DIY thread on the ebay intake. It requires some modification but is worth it for the $$.
