so my alternator took a crap today and left me strandedish... i'll be replacing it on monday wen i go back to work, i love discounts :D

i would like to get a higher amperage alternator though, just to keep me happy.

first of all how many amps is the stock 1st gen turbo leg alternator rated at? its a 1992 with auto trans if that makes a difference

i'm running a sound system, performance lights, alcohol injection, high powered coil, and some other goodies so the more juice the better because i'm sure the list will grow even bigger in the near future.

are there any alternators from a wrx or sti that are straight fit? plug, bracket, size etc.? are they even any more powerful?

i'm sure someone has to have done this in the past.

i need the car up and running monday so i can't do an online order and wait for it to come in which is why i'm really hoping that there is and OEM with more juice that will fit right in.

thanks in advance

Find a shop that rebuilds alternators and have them build to spec.

I don't know about first gen but for mine I was able to get a 110amp alternator. Call around to all the local parts stores and see if they carry a higher amp one for yours.

110amp stock for most make/models on 85+ cars. i dont know if the make a 120~amp.. but why? most alternators only push out 60~80 amp. with high loads
