Humming sound from engine or trans

no no no. I know that. I'm getting a sound I've never heard before. As if something is not right. I can't describe it other than it wasn't there before and it doesn't sound right. Like if something was warped maybe?? and there is rubbing issues??? I can hear it inside and outside the car. It's a low pitched hum. I ask this if anyone has encountered a similar sound at anytime. Don't know where its coming from. engine or transmission.
