We have a car show locally that a radio station hosts every wed night at Lancaster Speedway, and for 5$ you can run your car down the 1/8 mile or for 25$ you get as many passes as you can get in the night. They call it grudge match racing, i have seen everything from a go-cart to a scholl bus race down the track. you can either match up with your buddy or rival, or they match you

so i get next to this cavalier, ridic. i must say stupid body kit, huge wing giant chrome rims, STICKERs everywhere. so of course the announcer is horribly tearing this kids car down... i mean bad but whatever.

so on with the story i had a perfect launch didnt red light
i ran a 10.28 @ 66.2 mph pretty good i think! for any atx with just a k &n drop in filter!!!

You failed to say whether or not you beat the Cavalier. A 10.2 is DOHC VTEC Honda territory. A Cavalier should be right in there as well.
Glad you had fun at your first drag night.

Hmmm, I've seen a bone stock 89' Civic Hatch Run a 10.1 1/8th...I'd think a legacy would be a little quicker than that.

that translates to about a 19sec quarter doesn't it?

Is there a way to calculate that? The other half of the strip will be faster than the first.

seriously!, im not trying to toot my own horn, however its a cavalier that mabye had an air intake and fart can, with about 500lbs of sound system and all the extra weight from the body kit and spoiler... damn really

he ran a 11.86 @ 60.1mph oh and he was stock, he had me on the launch, however I way over powered him! I really need to know how to make my little ATX faster off the line!, and no im not switching to a MTX, i like step on the gas and go!

im gonna run again next week well see how i do then!

Way to put the Cav in their place. I know someone out that way, near Buffalo. The 'grudge match' thing sounds familliar, I think he lives less than a mile from the track.

My BD 4eat did the 1/8 in 11.4 or so on the way to the 18.046 quarter mile time.

my Wagon did 11 flat when it was auto, after the conversion, my best was 11.1, the LegacyTT gearboxes have a shoooort 1st gear and a loooong second gear, imagine that on a N/a motor lol i have to ride the clutch into 2nd so it could grab.

A friend of mine had a automatic 98 accord breaking 10's with ease lol
H22 powa... it was his mothers car that he used to race, XD no mods what so ever, hubcaps and all.

1/8 times

ok well last night was weds. and the last chance i will have to run my car for the winter, cold season here in buffalo ny, and as promised here are the result

i ran up against a heavly modded STi,

I ran a 10.13 @ 67.1 mph really excellent run for me

the sti ran 8.93 @ 86.7 mph, he was running a crate STI engine, with a whole slew of engine mods, forged pistons, over bore, bigger turbo, fmic, N2o, co2 sprayer, there was alot more, however after he started talking about what he had, i got pissed new i was beat and stopped listening.

running against him was kinda redic. however i still had a good time

second run
ran against a honda civic late 90's hatch mabye a ex

i ran a 10.34 @ 63.5 mph,, i missed the light however I CRUSHED him
he had way out at the light, like a good cars length, i came from behind, ALOT

he ran a 11.25 @ 59.87 mph silly ricer.... silly ricer

so all and all they where 2 excellent runs for me

Get a Manual Transmission car dude, I redline launch and havent broken anything yet. :p Cant let a FWD car eat u off the line lol u drive a subaru.

to launch a lil better with a Auto,
Transmission Oil Cooler
Transmission Temp Gauge
Time the light and Torque break launch

Also good to have a backup Tranny. :D

Do you let the clutch out or just sidestep off? Just 'dropping' into gear is baaaaad. Also, slipping the clutch at redline will severely shorten its life.

I launch at 3800-4000 at autocross and can get the Baja to take off without lurching forward or bogging. I'll admit that I haven't even brought it to the 1/4 mile, because that's not what I'm building the car for.

Basically, if you launch a RWD or FWD car, there is a place for all that energy to go...tires slip and spin, minimizing drivetrain strain. With AWD, you have so much grip, you don't have that release...which means everything from your clutch to your tires is under severe stress. Something's gotta give, more often than not it's the teeth on the gears.

i never used to pop the clutch, i would rev the car to about 6,500 (7000 is redline) 2nd light come on i ease of a little bit, as soon as it start rolling pop the clutch then wheels will start spinning, now i just pop it and i get wheelspin, i revert to method 1 when i am running on a preped track with allot VHT.

Launching on Rcomps or Slicks will mess up your axels but i never seen or had a issue with street tires.

My car is 5spd is anyone thinks i am doing this on a Auto.
