ok. i need some help on picking a high flow cat. has anyone idea of what the best one would be for a phase II ej25. i have borla header on it right now. i might be getting STI Genome axle back, so i want to make the middle pipe witha good high flow cat. so any ideads you guy have would be very helpful, and no im not going to to just strait pipe it(i want to but i dont want a $10,000 fine).

thanks

so you'd need to one "mounted"

I see that this thread is also open and about cats.. so I was wondering.. since there is 2 cats on the BD series suby.. would you only need one universal cat.. or would you need to buy 2 of them and have them welded to a straight pipe in order not to throw CEL's or anything?

my car came with 2 but i only have one. 2nd o2 is out of the flow of the exhaust. i know i will nee to get it mounts. im wondering what is the best one.

What do you mean that the 2nd o2 sensor is out of the flow of the exhaust? So its not necessary to even have the 2nd o2 Sensor? I'm not really necessarily concerned which is the best.. I just need to get mine fixed.. since it has a pretty bad leak all of the sudden. Guess I should pull it off first and find out whats up.

The BE's and BD's have a slightly different exhaust setup - due to the rear suspension being different.

Airgne - you don't need a high flow cat in your mid-pipe - that is POST O2 sensor and the high flow would be reducing your emissions but also reducing your power.

Midpipes on these cars only have resonators...they look like cats but they're not.

i concider the mid pipe the part after the maifold/header until the axel im getting rid of my stock cat(already have one gone). im going to have borla header(have now) to 2 1/2 in id pipe(the mid pipe) to JDM STI Genome axelback.

im just trying to find the best high flow cat. i might have to put in a resinator after i see what it sounds like.

Then your definition doesn't match the rest of us.

Typical Subaru exhaust goes like this:
Header->Cats->Midpipe->Axleback

RandomTech or Stromung hiflow... it should bolt on (as recommended by Reason in post#2). I am not 100% sure on the layout of your car but it should look like these:
