OBD scanner/reader for home use

I would like to buy a scanner/reader for my tool collection. Can anyone recommend a decent one that won't break the bank?

You could buy the Scangauge II which reads CEL lights as well as an assortment of other functions.

Look for something made by Actron. (bright yellow scanners, most garages use a model from them) Even their most basic models will read test readiness status and the like (most of the cheap Ebay scanners wont do this)...

i have a scangauge in my car. I LOVE IT!!! it is one of the best things you can get for your tools.

I like mine too. Definitely a good investment and the price was right. I threw a CEL after I installed my intake and was able to clear the CEL light with the Scangauge.

a regular scanner is about $30-50 cheaper than the scangauge. If you want the novelty of having a dotmatrix readout in front of you while you drive, then the scangauge is for you.
