So when I got the car it had no tint on the driver window and some really awful after market fogs.
I had these Hella 500's on my 73 Commando but that project has kinda stalled so I re purposed them for the Sube. The Hella bracket makes the lights too tall to fit in the stock opening so this is what I came up with. I had to make a little angle bracket out of 1"x1/8" strap and used a combination of the old fog light hardware and the Hella stuff.
On with the pics.

Flat black rattle can to keep the rust away..

With that extra 3/8" they fit in the stock buckets.

I think they turned out pretty sweet for costing pretty much nothing. You can also see the new tint on the driver window, it is a pretty good match, for $45..
Next some Rally Armor flaps and all weather mats and I should be good to go for winter.

Wow they look great! Are those the Hella driving lights or the fogs? They look like driving lights.
Also I'd like to know a little more about how you made those brackets. Did you have to weld? I'm wanting to put 500's on my Outback as well. Is there enough room for the covers to fit on the lights?

I think that they are the driving lights, I haven't had the package for over a year so I don't really remember.. but I bought them for a jeep project so I'm pretty sure that I didn't get the fogs. Not sure on the covers, ill check tomorrow.
As for the brackets, I did have to weld, you can see the tacks in the first picture.
I cut 2 3" pieces of strap and bent them 1/8" longer on one leg, because I didn't know exactly how high I was going to have to tack the hella brackets, the whole thing is secured to the bumper by a stove bolt that I pirated from the old fog light kit, and I secured that to the L brackets with a couple tacks.
Here are a couple other shots.

That looks REALLY good. Props for the DIY work. You might want to rockblocker those lights in case of small stones bouncing up.

That wagon looks slick too - color scheme that I wanted to rock on mine but couldn't find one, settled for all-white.

No dice on the covers. at least in stock form, they will probably fit with a little trimming. The lights are really tight in the openings top to bottom.

But that will have to wait for the weekend, gotta finish welding up this BBQ for the pig roast.

So I trimmed the covers to fit, sorry for the crappy night pics.

And here is what I had to trim off the top and bottom of the covers to get them to fit.
