Hey guys,

I spent part of the weekend working on the car. I have all the piping for the fmic into the engine bay. I drilled a 3" hole throught the the metal where the battery once was. I also had to mod my new jdm bumper to fit the fmic and the tubing.

Sorry I dont have the pics on a web site that i can use the url code to post them up

How hard was that? I'm considering switching some of my stuff around like that. Do you have to get any adapters (my radio is a single DIN and its a bolt on in the radio bay...)

No its not hard at all. Its all wires in the back, so you just have to move the wires down and do a little triming to the plastic to make it fit.

Wiscon_Mark

oh, I know the wiring's easy (installed my own audio stuff) I was referring to the mounting brackets.

Yeah I took out the vent and put an a/f gauge in there

yeah i know i need to chnage those things. how did you get them out without breaking the tabs off???

Wiscon_Mark
06-27-2005, 01:27 PM
The window switch bezel? You pop it off from the back, it'll just come right out without any harm done. I did it by accident when I was disconnecting the wires to the switch and I thought I'd broken it, but I didn't. Its quite easy if you get the door off.

Just push on that blue piece and it'll pop right out
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y260/wiscon_mark/IMG_5635.jpg
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2005/06/IMG_5636-1.jpg

The Wires then disconnect from the switch, and the switch can actually come out of the bezel, for easy spray painting or whatever your heart desires.
It'll just pop in the same way it goes out, perfectly flush.

So, i have to ask, were you inspired by my doors, or did you do this independantly and coincidentally right after me?

Well as of now its kinda clear skies with lows at 40's and highs at mid 60's to 70's. Oregon is a very rainy state but its one of the few that get a real all 4 seasons. Its a good state to own a Suby :-D

How do you like the AVC-R? That suckers awesome huh :headbang:
I love mine, going from a bleed valve to a blocker setup makes the turbo spool so incredibly quick it’s disgusting. Where did you end up mounting it? Here’s mine in black... (http://66.49.172.173/subaru/subaruSPF/Image047.jpg)

I didnt swap any of the bumper parts. I took off the HUGE plastic bumper beam and that was it. The JDM style mounts to the little metal one, so i really dont have any renforcements under the cover

Huffer
11-10-2005, 12:04 PM
An alternative to that, is simply shaving down the plastic beam until it fits. That way you have some kind of support/flex.

Or using some kind of hidensity foam...

Were the top push plug mounts in the same location? I guess what I am getting at was how much of it "bolted right up" and have you ever consider doing a writeup on it? :-D There's not a lot of hard evidence out there on the actual job itself.

Now doing so might threaten the exclusivity of your ride though.;-)

ss

bakergtt
11-10-2005, 12:50 PM
The bumper is fiberglass so it came with no holes drilled. Just have to get the bumper right were you want it and looks centered and good and mark the holes and drill the holes in the bumper and the plugs drop right in

Hey Don

I have JDM v7 sti seats and they rock!! You should see which ones you like best. there may be some difference in comfort but probably not much. Fitment shouldnt be an issue, most subaru seats can be swapped but there is a height difference in where you sit.
I sold pretty much everything i have changed. Bout the only thing i can think of that i have is the stock radio and the stock air box.

Sick. I love it. Just- wow.

I was wondering, what type of paint do you use on an FMIC? Because the whole point of one is to cool. And some paints are heat resistant, but does that meant that they also retain heat?

Wiscon_Mark

I've seen ceramic paints at Advance auto that are designed to move heat rapidly.

painting is just a cosmetic thing. Your only painting a light dust to get the color you want. I called up a custom radiator place and they told me to use a t3 hot rod black paint from plastico i think

PRE's dyno dynamics

Do you have dual port headers

Yes. The heads are off a 2.5 n/a outback and the header is the stock one.

Holy cow man, those are some nice numbers! Got any potential buyers lined up yet?

My tune was done by "Dom". He's a friend to our local club and gave us all discount tunes.

Had one guy up in Seattle interested. I shot him a PM off Nasico yesterday and havent heard back from him yet.

Besides that no one. Have had a couple of guys want to trade me their usdm sti seats for my v7 jdm ones but I wont part anything because everything on this car makes it very unique

Maybe you could sell it to subiesport, since their project car wasn't nearly as awesome as yours.
